Yeah, Vegas.

The Strip is shut down, 3 alarm fire. The roof is on fire and nearby hotels are being evacuated. Four hotel workers are trapped on the roof of the Monte Carlo.

It either isn't that bad or the Casino cares more about profit than protection of their customers: "Guests were spotted looking out of hotel windows, and guests are gambling. There has been no evacuation."

why bother opening and reading it then?

Fox covers many more news items than the rest of the biased news outletss. If Fox News is so bad, how do they consistently win ratings awards time after time. And it's based on Nielsen ratings.

I was playing at a craps table in Vegas one time, and the gentleman next to me (mid 60s) had a heart attack, and collapsed. The pit bosses first called for internal medics, and then 911. The game kept going.

Years ago I was having some fun in the MGM Grand Casino. This was AFTER it had been refurbished in the aftermath of the big fire they had, and before the facility was sold and given a new name (the current MGM in Las Vegas is in a different building than it was originally).

Anyway, I remember winning a few of the $1 metal gaming tokens that had obvious scorching and fire damage.
There, now this thread is coin-related.

Just came back on Tuesday from Vegas, though I was staying at the Las Vegas Hilton. Bummer. Hope it turns out ok.

No major injuries reported. Fire may have been started by welders working on the roof. If you are coming to Vegas this weekend, traffic on the southern end of The Strip and on nearby side streets will be blocked for hours.

Looks like it was just the plastic slab that caught fire. Amazing none of the rooms burned. Interesting to learn that those stone slabs on the exterior of the hotel are just plastic.

Let's see Fox is the only conservative news outlet out there. There are 7 or 8 other news outlets that are all liberal or moderate to liberal, including the broadcast news stations. So while all the liberal news groups fight for awards from liberal awards organizations Fox gets all the awards from conservative organizations. I watch Fox News primarily, but have to watch MSNBC or CNN in order to get the whole truth.

How about every just start posting off topic threads? How would you feel then? Maybe FC, myself, and a lot of others should do it. It would all be about relevant issues, so it is ok, right?

No one has anywhere else to get news items, right? No MSNBC? No fox news? No TV?

I've got family in Vegas and was planning to go to the Monte Carlo in a few months for a birthday trip...so this is actually something I am interested in.....but, all that said, I don't come to a coin forum for it.

Everyone is above the "rules" around here, it seems. And they always need everyone else to defend them.

I just think EVERYONE should just start posting OFF TOPIC threads. Why not?

Probably. It's certainly one of mine. This is a coin chatroom - all it takes is a percentage of us to post an OT subject a week to get it shut down by the powers that be. Anytime you're tempted to post something and put OT in the title, it's better just not to post it at all.

There was a special report on Sky1 (in the U.K.) that I just watched. News is reporting that it appears to be a mostly external fire without any resulting structural damage. The more blackened rooftops and marquee are on the west side facing I15 and the strip side appears to be less damaged.
