"For the 4th year running now, continuing in the tradition they started in 2005, PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service), the most respected third party grading service in the coin business, is continuing utilizing the "First Strike" tag or insert denoting that these coins were minted (issued) within the first 30 days of the new calendar year."

    Nothing big...they backdated them.
    If you have the original green boxes, unopened, they have slips that show the actual date. If within the guidelines, you can get 1st strike on earlier SAEs.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Backdated due to First Strike™ qualifications under the 1st 30day of issue.
    I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.



    The name is LEE!

    In my OP, besides the number of years they've done this, I was perplexed about the new calendar year reference. I'm used to thinking of first strike being within 30 days of release, period. I don't really partake in such matters (FS) usually, but this ad caught my eye.

    Well technically if they start shipping after the first then it could be in the second month of the year. Or maybe even the last month of the previous year. image

    I dont think they are claiming "minted" in the first 30 days but actually shipped...The Mint has already stated they do not know when most coins are struck, other than "first day covers" ..especially the eagles, they say many were struck the previous year of course edited..oh the ebay guy said that??? Well thats BS LOL

    If so, how much of a premium did u receive?

    One year we got a case of the new silver eagles in January, and the inspector slip inside was dated the previous August!

    My question is what are first strike's really worth? I haven't heard anyone get terribly excited about one in quite a while...although I am new to the collecting world.
