BST Problem (Part 2)

The saga continues with this, I’ve had only three transactions on BST, while this one will work out I’m sure it was not smooth. A simple email could have resolved many issues. This is all the PM traffic and the last is what I brought up today: I don’t care if it takes two weeks to get a coin because of the holidays and if you cant reply because you’re gone but it does bother me that I was told the coin shipped on 2 Jan, there is no email saying it didn’t and then I get the “label printed info” am I wrong here????????

24 Dec 07

25 Dec 07
no problem with paypal
send 295.00 to @aol.com
i will send you an invoice

25 Dec 07 (I never got this invoice)
do not have your email address to send a paypal invoice
please send to @aol.com
will send coin out

25 Dec 07
Do I pay using the invoice? Normally I send it by just logging into paypal and sending it to the email address. (Sent him my email address)

25 Dec 07
Payment sent

26 Dec 07 (He logged on today after this was PM’d to him)
Everything go through o.k.?

28 Dec 07 (Understand the holidays)
Status on this? Did it ship? Have a Happy New Year

2 Jan 08
got payment
thank you
and coin went out today 1-2-08
thanks

9 Jan 08
You told me it went out the 2nd? Now you're just preparing for shipment according to the email?

I don't think a tracking number on a non-Registered coin will show anything except that message until it is actually delivered. I could be wrong, and I am sure someone in the know will say. I wouldn't call it a "problem" at this point.

My point is he told me the coin shipped on the 2nd, and the shipping document wasn't created until the 8th with no emails or PM's...nothing. Meanwhile I have had people babysitting the mailbox because I thought it would show up and because of where I live I dont want it walking off.

This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date.

Late December and early January, with the holidays and short work weeks, it appears that things I have ordered are taking much longer to arrive than I would expect. If you need timely deliver, I recommend that next time offer to pay for Express Mail or Priority Mail and/or clarify your shipping requirements while negotiating the purchase (ie. I need this to be mailed within 48 hours).

When I saw your initial post my first thought was, "man, what a whiner". That just changed with this:

<< <i>My point is he told me the coin shipped on the 2nd, and the shipping document wasn't created until the 8th >>

That isn't the issue the way I am reading what the OP wrote.....he is upset that he was told ON 1/2/08 that it "went out today", THEN, on 1/8/08, he gets the automated paypal message saying the package was prepared/shipped (true, it may not go out at the time that was created, but usually it won't jump in a time machine and go out before the message was created image ).

The only way it could have gone out, as he was told, on 1/2/08 is if the seller addressed it by hand to send it out and later went into paypal to create shipping tag and wasted the cost (HIGHLY unlikely).

So, he appears upset he was lied to, not about the delay itself.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

If that is the case, when he receives the package, the date stamp on the postage will show the truth. It is poor form to say that you are going to ship something on a specific day and not do so. Certainly, like in the Brady Bunch, something may suddenly come up, but if it does, one should inform the recipient that the shipping has been delayed.

On the potential good side- I have never had somebody tell me they'd received my payment, then disappear. The crooked ones will usually take the money and run, and never communicate with you again.

On the potential bad side- catching the seller in a lie can't be a big confidence booster.

Russ, exactly what I was trying to get accross in the OP "Excuses are sometimes acceptable. Lying never is" Tell me it will be a month before I can send the coin out for whatever reason. But tell me something and carry through with it.

I've had many transactions via BST and do not recall any where seller did not ship within 2 days of payment.

    Most shipped within 24 hrs.

if the package was insured ask the seller for the insurance # call the USPS customer service and they can tell you when the package was scanned in at the counter... other wise wait and check the postmark before jumping to conclusions...

Perhaps he had the intention of mailing it on the 2nd but didn't make it to the PO for some reason. But yes he should've kept you informed.

There are days when it's totally crazy and I can't get to the PO when I expected to, and I always email people to tell them it's delayed a day. They, like you, don't mind the delay but do appreciate being told.

    Communication is a wonderful thing!

I've noticed when using a postal label printed through PayPal that the package is NOT scanned at the post office counter. It's just put into the bin and sent out to the sorting center. That's also the problem with the delivery confirmation we're forced to buy for .18 on 1st class packages - it's not scanned and there's no way to prove to the buyer that it was sent. It's only of benefit to the seller when the buyer receives it and it's scanned.

That was sent from the USPS when the label was printed with the date of Jan. 8, so it was not sent any sooner than that date, and must be used on the date which is stated.

Ummm... if it was shipped via PayPal shipping (as it appears to have been), it most likely was NOT scanned in at the counter.

The PayPal shipping notification emails are generated at the same time the shipping label is created. If the email was generated a week after the date the package supposedly shipped, that means that the shipping label was created a week after the date it supposedly shipped.

OP has a right to be peeved.

I need to chime with a BST NON-problem.
Forum member pays USPS for Priority Shipping of a package on 12/21 and I receive it 1/3!!!!

It's sometimes an asset to have more patience than brains as I do.

Now I know, that's not saying I have much patience image but you get the idea.

Didn't mean to derail your thread USAFRETWI.

Tbird, at least I'm honest about the fact that I am sometimes a slow shipper.

It's an embarrassing truth that sometimes I suck, but let it be said for the record that I've never said I shipped something when I hadn't.

When I'm really sluggish and know I deserve a slap on the wrist, I'll usually add freebies to the package as penance. image

All my buyers have, to my knowledge, ended up with their coins (eventually), and I have made some attempt to clean up my act a little.

I only hope that USAFRETWI didn't just get bitten by a snake in the grass. Hopefully there's just been a miscommunication and his coin will arrive soon, albeit late. (Still crossin' my fingers on his behalf).
