yeah its pretty funny, why that lady would risk that in court ? I meen 400 bucks for pictures ! AND the buyer got 5 grand in settlment! Good for her. I wish I could do the same to dall your friends dirtlegger who messed up one of my auctions.

It's good to see a scammer get what was coming to them, but I find it annoying that Judge Judy had absolutely no knowledge of how eBay works. Despite the fact that selling pictures of a cell phone was probably done to try and deceive someone, if there was actually no eBay violation, and it truly did state it was just a "picture" of a phone, and it was clearly stated that there was no return policy, then technically the defendent here should not be guilty.

When someone says you get the item pictured, then sends a 'picture' of the item you think that is ok?

The scammer kept insisting that she wrote: you get a photo of the phones, yet when pushed to show exactly where she stumbled.

Maybe in crimminal court, but aren't the TV judge shows civil? Meaning the judge can trump legalities with rightful moralities.

TV courtroom shows, though frequently entertaining, often have little to no basis in matters of actual civil law.

Sometimes "rightful moralities" do get trumped by the letter of the law.

I saw some guy walk off Judge Wapner once. Wop flipped and awarded $1500 (the max) to the other guy. At the end of the show they flashed a screen that said the judgement was vacated because Wop had no authority to do that.

That was great! I wish every ebay scammer could be brought before Judge Judy.

Judge Judy went by the letter and intent of the law. Anyone who takes $400 from a buyer and send them a picture is an outright thief. I bet she gets a visit from Child Protective Services and maybe the IRS.

I hope the defendant winds up in criminal court and goes to jail.

And that's all I'm going to say about that.

you are welcome! Plus, the buyers got 5 grand as settlement! But I do agree that judge Judy should be a little more knowledgable about ebay, but she is one tough cooie thats for sure, wish she would get a crack at dirtlegger for me, that clown owes me some cash!

I don't think ebay is that different from any other auction market, except it is electronic. Judge Judy knew enough about ebay to recognize the defendant was a liar and a fraud.

IMHO anyone who thinks what the defendant was "technically" not dishonest and did not act with an intent to defraud has a strong magnet attached to the bottom of their moral compass.

This was one of her best decisions ever.

It's showbiz. And she doesn't need writers. Expect to see her in prime time.

Actually I think she does try to follow the law, as is practical in a 10 minute bench hearing. Judges have never been required to turn in their common sense when they put on the robe.
