Ebay is full of discriminating and intelligent sellers. Here is one that I found that made me laugh out loud. 1911-S Barber Half

and I quote the auction description: "Surfaces are original with no problems, damage or cleaning. I am an NGC Member-Dealer and grade accordingly."

Hey buddy where did the N in IN God we trust run off to? And why is the coin all scratched to hell, and are those rim bumps at all over the coin, and did you use ajax or dynamite to restore those "original surfaces".

I see nothing wrong with my auction. You M-fers should stop bad mouthing coin collectors when you don't know notta about anything. If you don't want to bid on my auction, move along and play with someone else. I trying to make a living here.

I agree, maybe the $10 was from 6 years ago when the person bought it..... we put items up on ebay and the flips have old prices marked on them... many times the flip price is a fraction of what we paid for the item and what it is worth

Having the price of a raw coin on the flip in an image is against ebay's rules. They removed the auctions of the scammer who was selling problem coins as original for this very reason.

    You should report them.

No idea what the worth of the coin is. Not much of a Lincoln person. But I have seen several morgans with $5 written on them recently selling raw on eBay. I knew they were from 10 years or so ago. With the current price of silver no one would sell a Morgan for $5. So I just usually figure its old stock when I see something like this.

I've seen some pretty funny stuff on eBay but most of the time the prices dont make the "make me laugh" scale.

If the people at eBay don't have to deal with reports of trivial violations like this (I mean really- how is having a price on the flip hurting anybody?), they might have more time to devote to more serious issues like counterfeits being misrepresented as authentic items.

    It's just a thought...

Don't you people have a life? There are probably a million ebay auctions that someone could find some fault with. That's a poor use of the precious time you have on this earth.

PS. I bought a large cent in a B Max Mehl coin envelope for $300 that had a 7¢ price on it.

Copper was much cheaper when that coin was marked $10. It has probably gone up over 4X, making the coin a relative bargain now.

Bid too win, no returns...too easy for people to swap a good coin with a bad.

I agree. "Too" easy for someone to substitute a 1963 Lincoln cent in F condition for one of those expensive XF's!

Maybe $10 is what the older gentleman paid for it years ago.

Maybe that coin (or any coin with a price tag on it) was purchased a while ago for that price and the value has actually increased.. I have no idea what the penny for sale is worth. I have some coins I bought in college that still have a price written on them.

That is true, but it is very easy to cover the number.
