What's your policy dealing with eBay sellers that have no feedback?

I always say to myself that I once had no feedback and I should treat a new seller like any other eBayer, but in the end I always talk myself out of it by thinking of all the scam stories I've heard...I've passed over a great deal of coins that were sold for bargain prices and I often wonder what others do in those cases... Thoughts anyone? Anyone had success stories ? Failures ?

Let them bid. We all started from zero. While I understand there are some scammers out there, I feel that excluding the honest people is a terrible thing. Sorta like giving them a cold reception.

I would not buy from a seller with 0 feedback. But as we know there are a lot of crooks with good feedback.

I do not buy from sellers with no feedback but do let buyers with no feedback bid on my items.

There isn't any way to block bidders with a 0 is there?
    I wish there was.
    You can block a -1 but not a 0.
    I WOULD block 0s if I could.

As far as sellers, I would probably steer clear of a 0 especially for a high $$$ item.

Zero FB sellers need to show something to prove worthy of your bids. If they have to play buyer for a while so be it. But a real scammer will have no problem buying for a month or so with perfect FB. Then the selling scam could begin. Let someone else build up the seller's FB. Until then, some bargains may have to be sacrificed.
NO matter how you slice it, someone with 100% FB could turn around at any time. Not likely, but it happens.

Everybody has to start somewhere. Would you think it was fair if everyone blocked you before you could get 1 feedback? I have sold to lots of 0 feedback folks. I haven't had a problem with 0 feeback buyers.

When I joined in 1998, I spent two months establishing feedback as a buyer before my first sale. Out of 20+ transactions back then, I think I got 8 or so feedbacks, all positive. Lots of folks back then didn't leave feedback.

I don't know that I can fairly answer the question since I pretty much only buy supplies on Ebay, but I wouldn't ever buy those supplies from a 0 feedback seller to save a few bucks.

I can say with certainty that I have never seen a coin in which I would be interested being sold by a zero feedback seller - although where my wallet is concerned, I'll admit that my interest level is strongly impacted by a overwhelmingly powerful sense of self-preservation image

Fair or not...my policy dealing with eBay sellers that have no feedback is that I don't buy from them.

A new seller should at least build up their positive feedback rating as a buyer first...it's not fullproof by a long shot, but at least it shows some degree of integrity.

If the pictures are consistent and item not too expensive, I bid

I have sold to many 0s before.
Coins are not so bad but when it comes to event tickets, 75% of my buyers with 0s "change their mind." They don't fully understand how ebay works. You can't change your mind on an event ticket and leave the seller with no time to resell. I would definately block 0 bidders on ticket sales.

If we're talking about something under $20 or so, if I can get a good enough buy on it I'll give them a chance if the circumstances don't make my Spidey sense tingle.

I'm not going to go after an $800 item in that case, though.

I was duped by a guy with a 2 feedback. I ask any1 who wants to bid on my auctions, with 10 or less to email me before placing a bid. I will not buy from some1 with less than 20, for an item over $300.

I won't buy from a Seller with 0 feedbacks, nor even put in a silly low bid. I don't feel a seller who hasn't experienced buying would, or could, provide good service. You must experience both sides of the transaction before you can put yourself in a buyer's shoes. So NO, the seller should buy several items first.

On the other hand I'm happy to have 0 feedback buyers. They are often more diligent at paying and providing feedback than more laid back folks with many transactions under their belts.

I Had an Auction Won by a Zero Feedback buyer Two Days Ago and This one has Me a Bit Concerned. He Joined E-Bay Dec.26th and has won ALOT of Auctions already in 10 days and only Paid for one soo far. He does'nt seem to care how high the Prices are as one of The items he bought from someone else was $760.00. I E-Mailed him and Welcomed him to E-Bay,etc..and Asked him his Method of Payment and I got no reply so far. Sad thing is I had a few other Real good bids right up to the End when the Zero Feedback guy won it. Sometimes you just get a bad feeling about a Transaction and this one feels wrong..I've been a Power Seller nearly 9 years now and have had both good and bad First time buyers, soo it's a Tough Call. I'd personally not buy from a first time seller unless it was a small amount through paypal. Ray in Florida..
