What's up with their prices? Their coins are WAY over priced!!!

Is the quality of their coins THAT good to command such high prices?

I was looking at this coin, but I think it's overpriced as well.

I purchased a half dime from them a few years ago at a show. The proprietor was very nice and fun to talk to. The coin was excellent and priced just about right. That's my only experience with them.

Are you saying that they are will to negotiate their prices?

I have had just one experience buying from Yellow River Rare Coins, at the March 2007 Baltimore Show, when I bought a PCGS MS-62 1835 LM-6/V9 Capped Bust half dime from them. Although only an R2, I had been looking to upgrade an AU-50 for several years without any luck until I located this gorgeously toned specimen. In my opinion, the coin was reasonably priced, although I confess that I was so taken with the coin, price was not an issue. Although they did not know me, they accepted my check. It was a very nice transaction, and I would very much look forward to doing business with them again.

If this coin is any indication, I would say YES, the quality is that good.

I've only bought one item from Yellow River - Feb 07, NGC VF-35 1835 Bust Halve, for $125. Not a rip, nor was I ripped. Nice folks based on my single transaction.

They've always been nice in person although i've never purchased anything from them. They also usually have a nice selection of seated and bust material which is hard to find. I may also send them an offer soon.

P.S. the red words at the top of their website say 'See a coin you like, email us an offer. We'll do our best to make it work.' image They accept offers...

This email to me(12/18/07) from Dick should show the character of the man..........

    Hi Michael,

First of all, Seasons Greetings with a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I hope we all have a great 2008!

Now, for the purpose of my email. I screwed up! Just before I was leaving the Boston Coin Show a few weeks ago, the very last sale I had was the two coins you purchased from my web site. I had already started to pack up my inventory when a dealer whose name is Tom walked over to my table and picked the very same two coins that you selected. When I got back to my office, I completely had a senior moment and forgot to take these two coins off my site. Then the next day, I spent the shoveling out and completely forgot to double check my sales receipts from the show. This is the first time this has happened as I try to take the coins off me site at the time of the sale, but in this case, my computer was already packed. I didn’t realize the problem until you purchased the coins from my web site. So when I couldn’t find the coins in inventory, I started to go back through my sales receipts from the show and then the light came on, and realized they had been sold.

So, I’m really sorry for this screw up! I must admit it’s the first time it has happened in the two years of having a web site, but there is a first time for everything and it sure is no excuse for what happened here. So, what can I do to make this right with you? If you see other coins on my site that you may be interested in, I’ll give you my best price possible. I have never had to refund a PayPal payment yet, but it I need to cross that bridge, let me know. Maybe there is still a trick or two left in this old dog. Some how, I knew someday this would happen, but I sure wasn’t looking forward to the day. Anyway, what can I do for you?

    Sincerely,

    Dick Quitmeyer
