1959 Topps Aaron from Pack

Anyone see this auction? Claims it was from an unopened GAI pack. Card looks great, just not centered well and I didn't do the pixel test but it doesn't look 70/30 to my eyes.

I got 6 on left side and 15 on the right for a centering of 28.5/71.5, so he wasn't that far off.

Why would anyone ask for that card to have a pic with a white backround?

nice card, a straight 7 possibly due to the centering.

For the TB centering I got 6 and 12 for the left side and 8 and 12 for the right side. It could be trimmed but its definately is tilted.

  • The top edge is DEFINITELY TRIMMED. The cut on the remaining three edges are uniformly straight. The cut on the top edge is not uniformly straight and was not cut in a (single) action. Even without magnification I can see at least four very suttle changes in the cutting angle. Just because Gai authenticated the pak we experienced pak collectors know their reliability is tenuous at best. The dealer who was purported to have cracked the slab and opened the pak at the Nationals obviously had this stagged. Therefore that same seller must have trimmed the card, sealed the pak and submitted it to gai. Most likely it was a cello as it is well known that Gai mistakingly authenticated alot of counterfeit late 50's & early 60's cellos and in this regard Gai was an easy mark. If the pak had been genuine and the card was genuine then the lucky dealer who opened the pak would have not sold the card raw at the show. He surely would of kept it for grading purposes. Alot of scammers out there who are always willing to go the distance for a quick buck. Either the dealer at the show was illegit and if not him then the person selling the card on ebay surely might be. If the seller is guaranteeing the card to receive such lofty grades if submitted to Beckett then why doesn't he submit it himself--my guess is he already has and we all know the results!!!!!!

  • Ask him the dealers name. That could be interesting.

If you save the card to your image editing software and view it through neg or invert the colors it does look like something strange happened to the top of that card , from left to right and a nice ding in the middle top of the card .

    8 or 9 o/c. No way PSA gives that a straight 7.
