My ebay detailed feedback ratings take un-called-for hit
I may be over-reacting to this, but I check my detailed ratings today and see that they have dropped for no apparent reason. Up until about a week ago, I had 5-5-5-4.9, then the 4.9 dropped to 4.8. I can accept this drop because I normally charge $3.50 for shipping. But then today I see that both my Communication and Shipping Time have dropped to 4.9! I can pretty much narrow it down to the last 2 feedbacks I received, but this is perplexing because I always ship 1-2 days following receipt of payment. Maybe I got slammed on the shipping time one due to a post office delay but I can't understand why anyone would give me less than 5 for communication as I always reply to any questions immediately.
Anyway, I suppose that as long as my "Item as Described" stays at 5.0 I'll be ok. That one's pretty important to me as I am starting to sell raw cards in addition to PSA-slabbed ones.

lol.
iv'e gotten whacked on S&H charges, when sometimes i lose a few pennies on shipping. I have a buddy who ships stuff FREE and doesnt get perfect shipping and handling ratings. The general populace can be somewhat dimwitted, but you can't sweat the small stuff.
It seems with all that's good and bad in the world today, ebay feedback should not even make the list.

I would not worry about it.... Now if it drops to 2.9 then maybe you need to re-look at your selling practices...
<< <i> Some buyers just cannot be 100% satisfied >>
You could offer free shipping and they would still beat you up on shipping cost.
No one cares or pays attention to those star ratings anyway except for the seller.

That sucks, but -- don't worry -- nobody who's going to be buying from you is gonna care about those ratings.
Gamehunter, no disrespect, but I think leaving that buyer a negative after they left you a positive (even with the 1 star ratings) is exactly what is wrong with eBay's feedback system. People leave comments they simply would not otherwise leave if the other person did not leave feedback first.
I have heard people propose eBay notify a person when they receive feedback, but not revealing the feedback itself until they left feedback in exchange, at which point both parties could see it. Great idea... but if you do not think people leave feedback much now, it may go virtually extinct with that arrangement. As it is I am AMAZED at how few sellers leave feedback first.
A bit off topic... sorry, I am still hepped up on the egg nog.

I'd like to see similiar ratings for buyers, just to level the playing field in the feedback ratings game that ebay employs. But when is ebay ever fair?
Plus how can a seller be responsible for the speed of mail delivery?
Sure they can be rated on their timeliness in shipping out your item, but once the package is in the mail, it's on USPS to do their job.
I would rather see a ratings category for 'quality of packaging'. You'd see lot's of low scores in that department, trust me.
You guys are way too sensitive or just ego maniacs. There's no way you will sustain str8 5s (maybe for a very short period); and who cares! I don't even look at that crap as a buyer, and as a buyer, i don't even fill that part out anymore.
For the person who left a neg after receiving a positive because his detailed fb dropped....well, i won't say it....but I rest my case.
<< <i>I always pay with Paypal and have become perhaps too fearless when it comes to bidding on items from sellers with questionable feedback. I look at the overall rating most of the time out of habit, but I never look at the star breakdown. Keep in mind, people interpret things differently. For me I typically give 5 stars, sometimes give 4 stars (usually for shipping cost), and very rarely give 3 or less. But I think many people view 3 as good... with 4 being outstanding... and 5 being absolutely perfect. In fact, I think that is basically how eBay labels them. So a 3 rating is not a bad thing really. Going by the descriptions, most of us are probably far too liberal with the 5 stars.

I hear what you're saying on the perspective thing, but look at the feedback % issue and you'll understand why I was a bit worried. To most people in general, 95% on almost anything would be considering very, very good... excellent in fact. But on ebay, if you see someone with ony 95% positives, you know the seller is probably a rip-off artist. Hell, even major scum like 4SC's are in the 99% range!. Similar thing goes for the detailed stars, but I think the "unreliable range" probably starts in the 4.5's or so, so I'm not tremendously worried at this point. And as I said, for me the "item as described" would be the most important, especially if selling raw cards.

Wow that was a little harsh IMO.

<< <i>I had a perfect 5 star feedback record also and then shipped a parcel to another country. It was sent out the same day that payment was received and sent Registered for delivery confirmation purposes. I am one of the few sellers on eBay that offers free shipping and insurance, so it was sent at my expense. Unfortunately, it took an entire month for the parcel to arrive at its foreign destination. The buyer left positive feedback, but he must have left all 1s in every category because every category dropped slightly immediately after his feedback was left. He received a negative from me and is now on my blocked bidders list for eternity >>
Are you flippin kidding me?? Sorry but your an idiot....

I love 4 SC. They have great product, they ship fast and are very organized.. I even got a Christmas card from them this year, how bad could they be?

I think they are scum because they did not send me a Christmas card.....
Gamehunter: YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
On a side note, if one or two ratings affected your star rating by .1, you don't have that many to begin with.
I only have 105 and it never moves anymore.
I'm 4.9, 4.7, 4.3, 4.6 I don't know if anyone even bothers with the ratings anyway. I do pay attention to them when buying raw. I want to make sure the "Item as described" is high. Other than that, I don't care what anyone else thinks about their shipping prices since I can see the shipping fees on my own and draw my own conclusion.
