Beware of sellers who wait until 12 days after payment to ship your items

Bought this item on eBay on November 29th and paid the SAME DAY and I still have not received it.

What pisses me off about it is that it was supposed to be part of my Secret Santa gift, but this idiot f'd that up and I had to get something else.

beware of what? it has not even been 3 weeks since the sale. not sure what ruffled your undies, yes you paid the same day. is it possible it is in transit? this time of the yr mail can be slow. did u email the seller?

    Steve
    Good for you.

Yes, I emailed the seller and he said that he mailed it on the 10th because he had a problem with my address. What problem? PayPal should have provided him with my address and it's not like I've moved recently. A BS excuse! Even if he would have mailed it on the 10th (which I really do not believe) then it still should have been here by now.

Again, this was not for me, but my Secret Santa. I don't want and I don't need the card. Period! Unfortunately, I had to get something else for my Secret Santa instead so I will be stuck with a card that I don't want. I filed a dispute with PayPal and hopefully will get my money back.

I think you are over reacting. btw didn't you once on these very forums get all upset on how sellers were being unfairly treated, how they spent years building up a business etc etc etc? The seller you tell us to beware of has been on ebay for 8 yrs and has decent feedback. Not all transactions go smoothly. Im almost positive that was you. if i am wrong i appologise in advance.

    Steve,

The seller that I was defending was being accused of running a scam when it was clear that he wasn't. I do not believe that the seller of my card is trying to scam me, but I do believe he is GUILTY of piss poor customer service.

Let me ask you this. Do you have any outstanding eBay purchases that you have not received that you paid for on or before November 29th? I didn't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!! Case closed!

    VintageToppsGuy,

Has it occurred to you that the item may be lost in the mail somewhere? This is the busiest time of the year for the USPS, and lots of items get lost/misdirected during the holiday rush.

I always request the seller charge me an extra $1 and use Delivery Confirmation for anything I buy between Thanksgiving and Xmas.

give him another week and relax; its the holiday season, folks get busy, the mail is slow, he SAYS he mailed it, he has 7000 feedback, i think youll get your card, or your money back.

LOL boy you really are something, you ask me a question then answer it. FWIW I do have a card coming that was purchased around the same time. No I have not accused the seller of anything nor have I told others on a message board to be wary of him.

You are acting like a spoiled lil kid.

Your title: Beware of ebay seller 'sportscardinvestor' on ebay could land you in trouble.

I'll ask you again, what exactly are we to be wary of?

You do not sound like the guy that was harping about how some here were treating other sellers that is for sure.

I do not remember the exact circumstance but YOU were the only one defending the seller if my memory serves me. So it was clear to ONLY you.

Get a grip and relax. Telling us "beware of seller" is a pretty harsh thing to do. This seller could lose sales because of your actions here and isn't what you told us all that time?

yes i do have a transaction from basically the same time that has yet to arrive:Item number: 320188437777

You paid on the 29th its likely it did not get mailed until the following Monday, but under Paypal rules he had until the 6th of December to ship it. Assuming it was mailed on the 3rd today has only been 14 days. The USPS does not even consider this late or lost for 28 days. Mail this time of year can take a few days, then you couple in the ice storms that have been plaguing much of the country.

I had an item I mailed on the 30th and it just now arrived in Houston today. It was sent Priority Mail and Houston is 270 miles away from me.

Why do people keep defending sellers like this? Let's just make more excuses for him. Let's see, we've already used the Holiday excuse. How about the one where he was in the hospital or the one where a cousin died and he had to go out of town for the funeral - that one's always classy. The fact is that they care absolutely nothing about customer service. So to answer your question Steve, that is what you need to be wary of - sellers with piss poor customer service. This seller is based out of California. Well, here is another package that was also shipped from California that was postmarked on the 15th, but arrived today! 3 days! Absolutely amazing! No, I don't expect every package in 3 days. I am satisfied with anywhere between a week to 10 days. However, this shows that it can be done and disproves the "Holidays" excuse. Call it what it really is - BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I dont believe the amount of money is the issue here, I think it boils down to the inconvienence of Vintage guy having to go out and buy another card he doesnt want to keep his commitment to the secret santa deal.

I dont blame him for being annoyed.
  • Options
VTG....I agree this is not good customer service. But, the guy seems to have sold a ton of cards and has decent feedback. I don't think it merits a warning. He seems like a seller who will work things out so I would continue to communicate with him. I would bet this will be resolved.

lol Im not defending anyone. I simply asked you what am i to be wary of!! I have now asked the question 3 times and you have not answered it. You keep whining and going off on tangents. The bottom line here is you are involved so this seller is crap. When someone else had a problem you were freaking F Lee Bailey.

let it go, the damn card will get to you when it does. If it never does, does not mean this seller did anything wrong. You emailed him and he replied. Im thinking it is more of a piss poor customer then piss poor customer service.

    Steve

edited to add: oh i see you have answered it, however I disagree, I do not feel this seller has given you piss poor service. he answered your email, suppose it arrives tomorrow and it has the post date that he told you? that it was the PO not him? then what? will you create another thread exonerating him?

    Good for you.

Perk I agree with you. my problem was why should i be wary of the seller? cuz he messed up this transaction with VT? I should put him on my list of sellers not to buy from? VT has over reacted here and has done this guy a diservice by creating a thread telling the public to beware of him.

this coming from a guy that has defended other sellers for doing some of the very same things!

i just found it hipocritical I guess.

I'm waiting on a card from the 3rd. But because it's this time of the year, I wouldn't create a negative thread in his honor on a public forum.

    You find what hypocritical?

You obviously don't remember the thread. Another member accused an eBay seller of running a scam on eBay and it was clearly a legit auction. It was not an item that the seller purchased - in fact the member had never dealt with that seller. The auction did turn out to be legit. PM me and I'll send you a link to the thread, but I don't see the point in bringing that member back into it on this thread.

No I would not blackbook this guy by any stretch, I do expect a card to come fairly quickly after posting an immediate payment however without insurance, tracking ect.. I completely understand these things can happen especially this time of year. I would not be to quick to judge this guy based on this transaction alone.

Yes I do and that is why I think you are FOS.

Listen, you were the one that came here crying and telling the world to beware of this guy when in fact he has not done anything wrong. You bring up all these reasons why 'sellers' in general are bad and try to tie them to this guy, yes sir I comprehend the language quite well. It is afterall me who remembered your defense (of a seller) and diatribe against board members a few months back. had I had a comprehension problem I would not have been able too. Anything else?

I find you hypocritical. my reason? this seller has not done anything that would deserve this title. It does not matter that you may have been right in that previous thread (i honestly do not remember) however with that said , practice what you preach and do not disparge sellers that don't deserve it! That is what i find hypocritical!

had you titled this thread differently I may have sided with you. For all we know the guy mailed it out when he said and the PO is behind! Telling us to "beware of seller" could do exactly what you advised us about in that previous thread. How guys work hard to build up a rep etc.....and here for a lousy 20.00 you are ready to crucify him...........capiche?

Okay Steve, I just have one last question for you. It has been 19 days since the payment was made and I still have not received the item. You say I am over-reacting. My question is, at what point (how many days) does it go from over-reacting to a legitimate concern?
  • Options
    WinPitcherWinPitcher Posts: 27,726 ✭✭✭
Actually it was a legitamate concern after 2 weeks. I have no problem with you being pissed off. I do have a problem with your title. With that said, you said you emailed him and he replied. So, from that day I'd give it 2 more weeks. I think you said he mailed it out on the 10th? On the 24th I'd say it was lost and I'd email him again asking him what he planned to do. I would also file a paypal claim at that time as well.

Since you no longer want the card isn't it better that it is in fact lost?

By telling us to beware of this seller implies that he is a scammer. Many people will see the title and may not read the entire thread. You did that guy a disservice. He seems like a decent seller. The type you normally would defend.

    Steve
    Good for you.

    Steve,

I hear what you are saying. However, after almost getting burned by "handyman" (aka Derek P) I guess I am a little wary. And I truly believe that the only reason that he mailed our cards is because of the thread that I started about him. He also told me that he mailed my cards on a certain day and he did not. I just have the feeling if the shoe were on the other foot and you bought your Secret Santa an item and paid immediately so that it would be there in time and then had to scramble for another gift at the last minute, then you would feel a lot different. That is all I have to say. Take care!

I agree too that there is a concern, BUT I seriously doubt this seller is scamming you. He replied to your email, what else is he suppoused to do? Drop everything he is doing in his life to kiss your ass because you have not recieved a 19 dollar card. Like it or not stuff does get lost in the mail and it does get mixed up. Also Paypal has been known to mess up on addresses. If he prints out his labels on his computer sometimes Paypal will tell you an address is invalid therefore he would have to go to the PO and mail it. I am sorry, but sometimes sellers do work real jobs and cannot get to the PO in a timely manner. If this is the case he should have contacted you, but who is to say he did not. Its your word against his.

Bigger question is how many sellers seeing this have added you to their blocked bidder list?

This thread needs a gold star.

For the record, it shouldn't take that long to receive a package unless the seller stated there was going to be a delay. Things happen, but 10+ business days? I started a thread recently in regards to a card that I had been waiting on for a similar amount of time. Granted, I didn't go so far as to name him.

Ripken you are correct, however lets say i mail out an item the same day it was paid for. and it takes 3 weeks to get to the buyer. Then what?

Once an item is mailed out we are at the PO mercy. Granted, they are on time 99% of the time it is that 1% that we have to deal with.

    Steve

    Steve you took my thought..

In this case the seller said he shipped it on the 10th. The USPS will not even consider it LATE until the 31st of December.

I agree with you. In my case though, the seller made it a point to get the money and then take over 20 business days by not going to the post office or responding to my e-mails.

I didn't read all of the thread so I don't know if the guy contacted the seller or not for an explanation. If the seller wasn't given a fair shot at responding to an e-mail (a day or two) I wouldn't rip publicly just yet.

    VTG, I feel your frustration, the best thing to do in this situation;
If he responds to emails (like he did) and you get your card just not as quickly as you would like, block his auctions and be done with it.
If he ignores emails, and just blows you off completely, and his feedback reflects that pattern, THEN warn your CU brothers. image
  • Options
ripken he did contact the seller and the seller told him the card was mailed on the 10th. The seller has done everything he can and his feedback shows no pattern to think otherwise.

Although he should have not waited so long, but he told the buyer it was due to a Paypal address problem which those do happen.

We are still only seeing one side of the story.

Thanks for the info. In that case, there's nothing you can do but wait. I've been on that end as a seller before. You send something, know you sent it, and you start getting angry comments from a buyer wanting their stuff.

If the item comes in with a postmark from a few days ago then flame away. Until then, happy holidays.

Still that is not that bad of a combined shipping. Show me where a seller HAS to combine shipping. I know alot of big sellers who do not combine shipping at all.

Show me where he says he even combines shipping? You bid without finding out first yet you blame him.. Look in the mirror for the person to blame.
