Anyone here have an unopened pack collection?

I'm thinking of starting an unopened collection of 1970-79 topps wax pack baseball. Anyone here collect unopened cards, and keep them unopened?

Is your 75 John Morlan PSA 9 for sale yet? Last time I looked it was still a pop 4.

<< <i>What is the point of having an unopened pack of cards graded, when you don't know what's inside? >>
I have just the opposite question. What's the point of opening the packs if you already got the sets?

Now that I can understand to a certain degree. But what if you're sitting on a pack that has a ridiculous card worth more than the pack itself is valued?
For unopened collectors, the joy is in posessing the intact pack itself, as pre-72 vintage product is very scarce these days (authentic product that is). I've opened my share of packs for gradeable cards, too, but it is a crap shoot and I can definitely understand the appeal of "keeping 'em sealed" as I also have a number of packs that I'd never consider opening, either.

now if i can just get rid of the soccer/hockey,and nonsports junk lol
i even have some kind of stupid 3 stooges unopened packs, noticed em the other day in the pile of stuff ive yet to go thru
I have a modest vintage pack collection, and a decent semi-modern pack collection. The vast majority is ungraded and worthless
As to why people get packs graded and leave them unopened, I'd arge that getting a pack professionally authenticated is even more important than getting a single card professionally authenticated. It's easier to tamper with a pack in a manner undetectable to a layman than it is to a card. As for leaving them unopened, the average value in vintage packs typically exceeds the expected value of the cards inside. There is added value in the seal and unopened state itself, which you negate by opening the pack. That said, this is a hobby so do whatever floats your boat.

Like Rube, I've got a bunch of unopened boxes from 87-92.

Tons of '88 football cellos.
Boxes of '90 Score football.
I'm hoping this will pay for my boys' college.
1973 OPC wax has really come down in price over the years after a big find made them more plentiful. You can get a Mint 9 pacj for about $50 on e3bay. I'd say the PSA 10 pack might command about $100-$125.
Jmoran, wow, that '68 rack is AWESOME!

<< <i> I have recently started collecting graded unopened packs (since PSA started grading) and was wondering what these packs are fetching? I have a PSA 10 & a PSA 9 graded 1973 OPC Baseball packs. The PSA 10 is a 1 of 1.

Do you know anything about that 1973 opc find? How much was found... and where?
Jeff
Like most others here, I only have a few packs, and most of those are new. But I did recently pick up a 1951 Topps red back pack with Duke Snider showing on back that was graded GAI 10. I know, it's not worth big bucks, but I just like the idea of having an unopened old pack. Griffins picture made me green with envy.

I'm sure we all see it different ways though .
I see that picture as a pack rippers dream .
Can only imagine the goodies that are all up in there !
