Roy Campanella signature

Hi guys --
In going through my husband's collection, he has a framed piece with a copy of the Life magazine cover that featured Campanella after his accident and a signature cut. In going through one of his old Becketts, I'm noticing there's a big difference in price between his signature pre-accident and post-accident. Are there significant differences between his signature pre/post accident? How do I tell what I have?

My husband had so much stuff -- it's like a treasure hunt going through everything... Fun but sad too

Here is an example of a "post-accident" signature...he used a brace and his wife would usually help guide his hand.

There are many fakes around, many are easily recognizable, however there was reportedly a Brooklyn Dodger clubhouse employee who signed many autographs for both Campanella and Jackie Robinson, mostly on team balls.
