non-sport "player sets"

Check out the Set Registry Set Requests "player sets" requested inprocess list. Look who was added to the bottom.

PSA accepted my request for Basic and Master "player sets" for Geronimo and Sitting Bull! I think it helped that I sent in spreadsheets with suggested Basic set and Master set cards and suggested weights for cards in both sets.

Thank you Cosetta!

So, what are some other non-sports "player sets" that could be added? I assume that there would need to be a minimum of 5 cards for a Master Set and maybe more than 10 to have both a Master and Basic set.

Here is a few that I came up with off the top of my head.

George Washington
Abraham Lincoln
most other pre war presidents
Buffalo Bill
Billy the Kid
other Western "Heros"
Charles Lindbergh
Magic the Gathering - Dragons set
Frankenstein
The Joker (or other comic book villans)

    Good day,
Interesting, So explain if I am getting this wrong, When you say, as an Example, Geronimo Master set, you mean the 4 or 5 Geronimo (or However many there are) cards in the Western Round-up set, the one in the Look N See set, ect. would be in this Master set? Who decides the make-up of these Master sets? And the difference and make-up of the Basic set?
They have been doing this forever in Sports, never understood it, but since this is in my Non Sport balywack I might figure it out.

I'm not 100% sure if they will do both a Master and Basic sets for Geronimo and Sitting Bull. I requested both and suggested cards for the Basic set based on major card manufacturers, popularity of the set and and population reports. For example I included the A&G N2s in the Basic set, but not the N36 set because it is essentially the same picture as the N2, but on a larger card and it is far more rare. The same goes for the 1949 Bowman (included in the Basic and Master sets) but the Bowman Frontier days card is only in the Master set. For the 1956 Round Up, I included the first Geronimo card in the basic and master sets, with the rest of them in the master set. This follows the sports player set precident of only including one card per set.

    Neil,

The Master set should include every Sitting Bull or Geronimo card that PSA grades. The Basic set includes only some of the cards. For sports player sets, the Basic sets include cards only from the certain manufacturers and exclude inserts, league leaders and other special cards. There are well established rules in the Set Registry Request page on which cards are included in the Basic sets. There are no such rules for a non-sports "player set" so I did the best I could using major manufacturers (Allen & Ginter, Topps, Bowman, Fleer, Goudey, etc.) and popular sets (N2, Heroes of History, 1933 Goudey Indian Gum, 1949 Bowman Wild West, 1952 Topps Look n' See, 1956 Topps Round Up, 1959 Fleer Indians, 1966 Good Guys and Bad Guys). I excluded more obscure sets from the Basic (N36, 1910 American Carmel, 1910 Phili Carmel, 1953 Bowman Frontier Days, 1954 Red Man Indian Chiefs, Quaker Pack-O-Ten, ect.) The final decision will be with the Set Registry folks. In the future, if there are a number of people building Geronimo Basic sets, they could poll the registrants to determine whether to add a card to the Basic set. I believe they have done so for the player sets. I hope this helps. PM me your email address and I can send you the spreadsheets I created.

    Hey guys,

    Neat idea image

I too had never really figured out the whole player set thing, since I was nonsport sets. I am curious what they could do with these - in my primary area (MtG), I could see...

    Power Nine basic/master set
    Various creature basic/master sets
Possible A/B/U basic/master set - 1 of each card, any set?

Lots of possibilities - could be very fun image

    Take it easy,
    Jared

    edited for blank post (doh).
