Has anyone opend 07 Bowman Heritage yet?...THE OFFICIAL 07 BOWMAN HERITAGE TALK/TRADE/WHATEVER PAGE.

I'm just curious how awesome the cards are? How would you compare them to other years? I'm debating on trying to do this set. I did last years, but I'm not sure on this one.

    Chris

I used to do the BHeritage set but don't strictly due to cost/budget.

I remember trading with Basilone 3 or 4 yrs back.

One thing - I remember the 03 set was loaded with autos. The only set I was ever really lucky with.

Good luck if ya choose to do the set.

Funny you should ask, Chris, I just went to the hobby shop today and picked up a box. I really don't like the foil cards, but I'm attracted to retro sets like Rube Waddell to shiny objects. Not too bad of a box for me. 2 GU's, 1 auto, 1 1 of 1 prospect card and 8 SP (the shop owner thought about 5-6 fall per box). May just try to pick up singles rather than opening a gazillion boxes like I tend to do.

At least this year they didn't do that stupid, ever so slight tinge in color to indicate Short Prints.

  • Post some scans!

After last year, I am VERY gunshy about Bowman Heritage. Whatta debacle that was... and the design was butt ugly too.

  • From what I've seen on the Bay, the design is fairly decent this year.

Rumor has it that this is the last year for Bowman Heritage.

I just opened a case. Pretty sweet looking cards in my opinion. Here are a few that I have scanned. I did pull a 1/1 Ichiro but haven't scanned it yet.

I opened 2 boxes. remind me alot of 2006 heritage nice cards.

knopfler that dice matsuzaka card you have there is the no sig sp version. i pretty sure of that. from what i read over on beckett boards

sp's are 181-200 no sigs and 226-250 no sigs. and the 5 mantles 1-5! people are bidding crazy on joba cards and he isnt even an sp. i had 5 and i think i got around 55$ for the 5 of them. 3 weeks from now they will be .99 cents.
  • KnopflerKnopfler Posts: 783 ✭✭✭
Thanks Kuhlmann! I was wondering what the SP's were. I had the list but I did not even notice that some did not have signatures.

those look kinda cool, I'm curious, what does the baseball have on it on Joba's card? I can read Joba, but what is the second word?

The Dice-K is 01/52. Doesn't mean much to me, but seems like the #1 cards carries a premium sometimes.

  • Thanks for posting pics... hmmm, nice design this year. I'm definitely going to at least buy a couple blasters. Looks like better bang for the buck than last year's set. I just want to forget 06 Bowman Heritage.

Love the sensible SP numbering... and no silly pastel variants!

Chris - nice Ichiro, and you're right - that 1/52 DiceK will bring a bit of a premium.

Sooo, whatcha got in the way of Dodger parallels?

  • KnopflerKnopfler Posts: 783 ✭✭✭
Haven't really gone through the parallels yet. I'm sure I have plenty of the rainbows or whatever they're called. I see the pics I posted aren't showing now. Having a lot of problems with ranchoweb pic hosting lately. Anyone know of another good pic hosting service? I pay $5.95 a month for ranchoweb so I don't mind paying a little if it's good service.

Seems like I've used Geocities before and I seem to recall something about a problem using them with ebay auctions. Or am I imaging things? Seems like the pics where there sometimes, and then would be gone for a while due to a bandwidth issue or something like that.

I don't know about anybody else, but I picked mine up for $70 (hobby) at the local. Kind of curious what others were paying. I was skeptical like Frank after last year's disaster, but I think I might do the set.

Kurt - prices are dropping rapidly on 401-card master sets on the Bay. Down from over $225 the day of release to around $140 this evening. That's the route I'm going to go on the master set. I'll be doing the Dodger parallels too, but those won't be a high priority.

On a related note, I'm still trying to decide whether I'm going to do the same with '08 Topps Heritage. I've busted well over two cases the last three years, but I might go the cheap route this year and put the money directly into my relic collection - might not be as fun as busting a case, but almost certainly a lot cheaper.

  • Don't know what the SPs and gimmicks are, but I like what I pulled from an 8-pack blaster.

Rainbows are really rainbow-ish, the design pops, and I like how the hot prospects subset has a different design from the main set.

A couple cards didn't have signatures. Is that this year's big gimmick?

Mickey Mantle #7 has five variations? I got #1 of 5. I guess there are FIVE cards numbered 7?

Signs of Greatness autograph of Seth Johnston, Padres prospect. ON CARD!

  • Correct- The SP cards are the ones WITHOUT signatures. What makes this nice is you can collect the entire base set and essentially have the entire set. The SPs dont include other players.
  • I got a blaster box at target today. This is a really nice set, way better than Turkey Red. I pulled a Whittleman auto. Not a big deal but pretty cool.

Anyone interested in starting trade lists?
  • Changed the name.

bought my first box tonight. Nice cards, must get more

    pulled:

    Bonds Jersey
    Cano Bat
Oswalt yellow 1/1 printing plate (missing holigram)
    Joe Benson auto
    Seth Johnston Auto
2 of the 5 Mantle foil cards
    lots of good rookies

looks like the no sig variations carry over to the foil cards as well
got the Iwamura sig and no sig foil cards
    Braun no sig foil
    Alex Gordon no sig foil
    Phil Hughes no sig foil
in fact, only 3 of the foil cards had sigs so maybe that's the SP for those

haven't read anything other than this thread on these so far

  • I just got my base set in the mail. This is a really neat design. You really need to go through the set to appreciate it as you at the cards individually. The Andy Pettitte card is awesome. The Soriano card is sensational too because of the background. This is a neat set.
  • What's up with the checklist? 250 cards and I pulled card 251????????
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
    Yeah Joba is 251

Has anyone seen a complete list of SPs and variations with this set yet?

  • The short prints are the no sig variations #181-200 and 226-250.Hope that helps.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭

Just noticed the sell sheet shows a different Dice-K than I've seen so far
    wonder what that one is

I'll put up my trade wants/extras in a bit, but wanted to say almost every blaster box has been pretty good. I have purchased 5 blasters and had an auto in each one. 2 of them had blacks and I want to say most had 3 or 4 SPs. Much better strikes than Hobby, but can't get the higher end parallels like the reds and plates (if that's your bag).
    IWTDMBII
  • The Arod card is different also.
  • kmnortonkmnorton Posts: 1,050 ✭✭✭
If anybody is doing this set, I have lots of base and prospects and some SPs to swap. I only need 4 cards to finish the base set (212 Butler - 239 Butler - BHP75 Bo***k (silly!) - BHP93 Adams). I'm also going to go for the POG and the autos, so if anybody has some and is wanting to offload them, let me know.

are there any other variations besides the sig / no sig 181-200, 226-250?

  • << <i>134 is an SP?

Oops, the black sig is contained within the black jersey. My bad.

Also, is 251 the highest # in the base set?

AND: I pulled a Guerra prospect 05/52. Woo hoo!
  • Nice pull on the Guerra. He is gonna be good.
  • zep33zep33 Posts: 6,897 ✭✭✭
    Found another variation

#7 (1 of 5) doesn't say 1 of 5 on the back - just #7 like the normal cards in the set - hope there's not a different 1 of 5 but I don't see any on ebay right now. Everyone seems to list it as 1 of 5

there is a sig/no sig variation for the #7

I have the sig and here's the no sig on ebay
    Mantle #7 No sig

funny this one is at 8.50 but there's a buy it now on another auction for 2.50 LOL

I'm putting these in sheets now so I hope that's it for variations cause shifting a whole set in pages is a pain
