If one is hell bent on eating pennies, be sure to only eat those dated pre-1982 (95% copper and 5% zinc). The high level of zinc in post 1982 cents is highly reactive to stomach acids and will cause zinc toxicities. Link to pediatric journal summaries.

Collect raw morgans, walkers, mercs, SLQ, barber q. Looking at getting into earlier date coins pre 1900s.
The 1804 silver dollar wasn't made till around 1834, and additional restrikes some years later.
