Surely, you have learned from this experience... we have all, at some time, pulled the trigger in haste... sometimes it works out... sometimes we learn the hard way...
As for this forum...there are so many folks here who have so much, of a positive nature, to offer... sometimes I may not agree with what is said...but I stick around...and have learned to 'weed out' what I do not find useful...
...yet I always try to keep an open mind...I have learned alot here...there are times I have made a mistake...and I have humbly apologized...and most importantly, I took the lesson learned to heart and am grateful for it...
...stick around, coinkid... and don't let some of the curmudgeons get you discouraged... many folks will put up a wall of bravado when they are sitting at a keyboard... and will say things and behave in a way that they would never consider in person...

I am surprised at how you were treated. You did not deserve that. Everyone who starts out as a newbie deserves at least one chance before being attacked.
I am also surprised at originalisbest and TWQG for their approach in their posts rather than trying to help you complete this transaction properly. I am not going to block them as their their posts here is unlike their past treatments of newbies. They also get the benefit of a doubt.
I suspect they misread your intentions.
By the way, you got an acceptable coin. Probably low end for the grade but in that grade, it is not critical as the price hardly changes beween MS-61 and 62. It is possible that the original picture as given by the seller was to "hide" the bag marks on the obverse. But you got a solid deal especially in light of gold's recent rise in price. Even today, you could sell it for essentially what you paid for it with your eyes closed.
Stick around and learn. We expect to fight through any and all negativity. There are a quite few positive posters here as well.
Note that I did not "sugar coat" all my comments to you as you need to learn from what you do well as what you do erroneously.
Wow.....I hadn't read that thread since I posted on the first page. You really took a beating in the thread coinkid. I am glad the coin worked out for you in the end. Much of this forum is about education, and berating a YN about a difficult sitution is not a very mature way of handling things. That's very disappointing.
By the way, dealers are now paying $930 for NGC 62s on a sight unseen basis, so I think you did alright with your purchase.

This board is loaded with posters that practice, "one up man ship", ignore them and do what you want. After you have been here awhile you will find a lot of the old posters get fed up and stop posting. I can't tell you how many quality posters have been banned or said to hell with it.
Basically, I saw your post, read the first page and skipped to the last page. Once I saw that page, I went back and read it all. I was appalled. Screw that, I was absolutely disgusted by the treatment you received. I could understand some of the treatment because a bid(word) is a bond. But the doubt you had was created here, after you posted something in excitement. You took in the knowledge offered here and checked further into your seller. I might have done things slightly different than you (and thats not a negative, just more experience perhaps), BUT nothing you did seemed terrible. The treatment was absolutely uncalled for and over the top.
A decent person might review their comments and perhaps communicate an apology of sorts to you.
After reading this I also want to point out a few things that are VERY OBVIOUS and should have been noted by the bashers:
1) You are young, but well written and able to communicate effectively and more maturely then most by far. 2) How many people your age (in HS) can do that OR even more important have saved money to buy a gold coin? - This is rare and admirable! 3) You are actively trying to participate in a hobby at a (probably) far younger age than the people bashing you ever did. 4) You owned up to making a mistake of perhaps not checking out the auction completely, but WE HAVE ALL done that probably multiple times.
So, enjoy the coin, the hobby, and this community. It is kind of a salad bar, you have to pick out what you like and leave the nasty, rotten tomatos. They are not in their prime, forgot how to be healthy, and are slowly rotting out from the inside.
