"But wait!" you say. You get emails with pictures and attachments and styles and colors all the time.
Yes, that's true. There is a standard protocol for the sender of an email to convert all of that information into plain text, and for the receiver of the protocol to convert it back. That protocol is called MIME, Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions. You've been sending and receiving MIME-encoded emails for years without knowing it.
So what happened with that email?
a) Your software is broken
b) The sender's software is broken
c) There was an internet hiccup between the sender and you that corrupted the email in such a way as to make it un-decodable
d) The sender is a spammer and trying to sucker you into sending a response, thereby confirming that you're a live person who really does read their email.
If you think the problem is (a), (b), or (c), then send a response and ask the sender to resend their message.
text in character sets other than US-ASCII;
non-text attachments;
multi-part message bodies; and
header information in non-ASCII character sets.
Edited to add.....agree with Jonathan above....particularly (C) or (D)
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I wanted to see a MIME, You guys are letting me down on this Sunday
