From last night's Heritage sale
1852-O with 'milk spots", in '63, $126,500, wow...
1841 in '64, $12,650...
1886 in ''66, $13,800...

Tough dates to be sure, esp. the '52-O

I watched the auction "Live" and saw that 1852-O go nuts.

It was also the first auction I watched; very interesting.

I didn't win the one coin I bid on because I had already upped
my bid to beyond what I thought it would sell for.

That is insane for a 52-0, even if the finest graded. There's been a schlocky 63 running around for years. That may
be the one. I've never seen a decent unc of that date, even a 61.

I've a friend who saw the coin in hand... as I didn't, I can't say for certainty that it is that coin, but the 'milk spots" in the description may give you a clue. And yes, certainly a really tough date, but 126K (if I had it for coins right now) could surely find a whole bunch of much nicer stuff, just MHO of course...

Thanks for the b'day greetings, had a nice dinner that evening with my wife and daughter and the inlaws at the local Roadhouse...

Nope, wasn't able to buy a thing, wanted the 1836 Bust Quarter but was outbid, the 1841 Seated Q. was also a neat coin, was told by a freind who looked at it that it was nice, but not really my cup of tea as I'm not really a fan of brilliant 1840's vintage quarters, although I was told the luster was exceptional. Not too many years ago George H. and "she who cannot be named" had an outstanding original 1841 that I wish i had pulled the trigger on for ~10k, and it was a 65, I believe in an NGC holder if memory serves...
Only things I have bought lately were a few generic $20. Libs in '63 and of all things an Indian half eagle off Teletrade the other night, a 1914-D in '62 in a PCGS holder (I like that date) which hasn't arrived yet, I hope it's half decent. Did you fare any better in last night's auction?

The only ones crazier are those seated dime collectors...
