Question on the Millenium 2000-W ASE

I tried searching for some MS-69 in PCGS holders, but found only one that was an MS-68. The only MS69s I could find were NGC holdered with the Millenium attribution on the label.

The mintage is only 75,000 for these ASEs, so I suspect that very few got holdered as a result of people sending in the Millenium set? Without the set, PCGS (or anyone else for that matter) couldn't attribute them as a Millenium ASE, right?

According to the PCGS pop report, the total graded is only 766, with only 357 in MS-69

So, this is a lot scarcer than anything in the ASE series, with the exception of the 1995-W proof.

Do you think the majority of the 75,000 sets that would have been sent in to the TPG have been sent in by now?

Either way, it looks like a great buy right now.

Opinions?

PCGS didn't recognize the Millenuim ASE on the label for quite a long time, so any Millenium ASE submitted during that time wouldn't been labeled as such.
I have looked thru about 75 Millenium sets and only made 5 MS69 at PCGS. The ASE's in these sets were mistreated and have at least one bad bag mark and most have multiple bad bag marks. When I sold my Milleniun ASE's on ebay about two months ago, the PCGS MS69's brought betweem $350 - $400. The PCGS MS68 brought around $50. So the market agrees and really pays up for the PCGS MS69 Millenium ASE.

theres alot of these sets floating around. The sets were expected to be big hits, and maybe for a few weeks after release they were, but quickly became dogs.

I may even have some buried with the remaining sealed buf c&c sets stashed in my time capsule of a closet (hasnt been opened in 5 years) Ill check and let you know

Bill, don't go in the vault, as I'm only interested in one that's already graded by PCGS. Don't want the hassle of sending in for grading, etc.

Thanks to both of you for the background info. I seem to remember it now, and also remember kicking myself for not ordering the C&C set to begin with.

    Cheers!

  • I just dispatched 5 millennium sets. 4 ot of 5 ASE's were milk spotted to heck, 1 coin still in the set has a shot at 69 and is going in soon.

Good luck, ATM. Do you send the complete, sealed set to PCGS for grading just the ASE and they return everything else?

  • No, as for as I understand, it has to be in the packaging, these are sealed with the sac, so I will just sent in the unopened section I want certified.

Get them both graded at the same time, even a MS66 Millennium Sac goes for $80 - 67 goes up to $200, 68 jumps to $1250, in fact the Sac is worth more than the Eagle grade for grade.
