Ever submit a coin in a bodybag and have it grade?

I was reading a thread where a coin submitted out of original mint packaging was BB'ed for altered surfaces, resubmitted, and then graded. So, has anyone ever not bothered to take the coin out of the body bag and then had it return graded?

    I wouldn't do it.
Human nature, being what it is, would make it too simple for a grader to just BB it again.
Why would you, as a grader, want to purposely go against a BB that you, or your colleague, had already decided wasn't good enough for a slab?

If it was still in the BB, nothing had changed, right?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • what about sending it to another grader?
  • PCGS isnt the only game in town. They can will and have been wrong before.

Again, why would you even want to when it is in a bodybag?
I understand the humor in the OP but, come on now, resubmitting in the BB may be funny but wouldn't be smart, no matter where you sent it (reputable place).

  • I have had 2 coins body bag at PCGS and then grade at ANACS. Both were early commems. PCGS said both were cleaned. I obviosly took the coins out of the body bags before sending to ANACS.

The thing is, both coins were MS64 in my book. Both came back from ANACS as MS62. In think there may have been a few hairlines and ANACS "net graded" them in a regular slab.

I didn't really expect to hear that it has happened before, but I thought I would try.

Two buddies of mine and I cracked out 88 Morgans from ANACS problem holders (all kinds of sins) and resubmitted them to one of the top two services. Sixty-six of them came back in holders.

No, I am not kidding. image
    When in doubt, don't.

My 1970-S 1c DDO went from a bodybag at NGC to an ANACS AU55 slab. I sent it to ANACS just to get it in a slab as authentic; it was a bonus to get it back in a non-net slab.
