1822 Quarter - opinions please

Obviously not an AU, but it looks like a nice XF to me. Anyone see any problems with it?

Not an awful coin, but expect hairlines you can't see in the pic when dealing with this seller.

Ahhh thank you for the advice. I've never purchased from him before, but always wondered why his descriptions were so sparse...

I have and, though I didn't get an "awful" coin, the coin I got was just "OK". That is not to say he never would have a super-nice item for sale, but that's been my experience. image

Reverse looks XF to me, but the obverse looks more VF30-35-ish to my eye. "AU" is rather overoptimistic.

Looks like a nice coin. Probably some hairlines, but nothing outlandish. Might have a little trace of luster that ain't visible in the pix, too.

I've heard of the seller, vaguely, but cannot recall if I ever did biz or not.

I bought a whizzed coin from this seller before I knew what whizzed was. The auction touted the coin as MS63 no mention of problems.

I would kind of be interested in it at about half of the price it's being offered at.

This seller's wares are almost always overgraded in my opinion.

    IMO "I'd steer clear"

    Points above are valid.

Thank you all for your opinions. I think the price is a wee bit high as well. I will pass on this coin...and from what I've heard from forum members, most of this seller's other coins too.

    Cheers, B

Just to be clear, it's not the coin you hate, right? It's the price?

Because it has a lot of detail and no apparent damage outside of a cleaning.

I'd trade my best 1822 quarter for that one, even stevens

baley, the coin's damaged above & behind the eagle's neck & has obverse pinscratches. it's been cleverly angled to hide the problems in the digi-pic
