Nice find...........draped bust dime.

I guy I know found this dime with a metal detector a couple of days ago. I assume it's real. Looks like it's an overdate. I don't know much about draped bust coinage, so I thought I would post it here for some thoughts and comments.

    What a great find! Did he clean it up a bit? Years ago my brother in law found a liberty seated quarter ( common date EF) in an old barn, He knew I collected old coins and he wanted to show it to me but he wanted to clean it up first so he took a pencil eraser to it.

    Sometimes dug silver coins come out of the ground looking cleaned, strangely. I once dug two AU+ 1893 barber dimes out of the same hole. One was toned light brown, and the other one looked like it was dipped, with a few hairlines. I'm 100% sure they were buried for more than a century. That is one of the nicest dug coins I can remember seeing in quite some time, even though it is cleaned & scratched.
