1858 pattern IHC where is the market?

i've been looking for one of these for a while now with any of the reverse varieties, to no avail......what do these normally trade for? the last time i saw an unimpaired one at auction it went for $1450 plus juice......i'm still kicking myself for missing this one on ebay.....it was in an ANACS holder marked 'cleaned' and the pics kinda sucked......at just over $400 i'm thinking i missed a bargain.....i had it on the watchlist and all i just forgot to set a snipe and then had to work overtime.....sometimes those early ANACS were especially hard on cleanings.....i've seen 'cleaned' per ANACS cross into the big 2 before......no way to tell with the pics but if this one could cross somebody made out!!

just curious your thoughts on what these command

Neat set, but seems like the kind of thing that is thinly traded - meaning prices could be all over the place.

Prices have been slowly rising over the last 10years. They aren't as thinly traded as you might think, but they aren't Morgan's either. image

If you check out the Heritage auction prices realized, you can get a feel pretty quickly for what the market is. The rarer varieties (pointed bust or 6 leaf reverse) are the ones that can be tough to price.

I bought a J 208 in AU 50 from Heritage last month. I paid $800 for it which includes juice. It was strong money, but I always wanted one, and didnt come across one too often.

Greg, one of the local South Bend dealers has had one in his case at least all summer long. Next show is in December I can get the info on it for you and he will let me take a photo of it I am certain. If you are interested let me know early December as I guarantee you I will forget unless reminded. image
