Ebay ended another auction over paypal terms

First off, this is not a whine or complaint. Don't care, it's funny.

I am sure someone will post where this was a violation because I can't find it.

Ebay cancelled the sale as follows:

"The listing was removed because it violated the eBay Paypal Payments policy. The violation occurred when you included the following information in your listing:

Paypal echecks will be accepted but not credit card payments."

I guess ebay does not want you to limit their paypal fees on larger sales by taking an echeck. Assume you want to allow a buyer to pay by echeck ( and pay just the $5) how do you do it?

I believe that if you say that you accept PP and esp if you display the PP logo then according to their terms you must accept ALL forms of PP. You should say other payment options available; please ask.

I just ran across a listing by a person that I regularly run across. this time he actually had something I was interested in.

I read his terms. He states that paypal is only available up to 250.00 yet displays their logo, etc....

I assume that's not within the rules either.

I had not not include the paypal logo as echeck only is not an option. I put in the description I would take paypal echecks.

    FYI...

    PayPal Payments Policy

"Sellers who offer PayPal as a payment option in their eBay listings (either via logos or through text in the item description) must accept card funded payments. Sellers must have a Premier or Business PayPal Account or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal Account to a Premier or Business Account upon receipt of a card funded payment. Sellers may not communicate to buyers that they only accept account balance or bank account funded payments, or will not accept card funded payments. eCheck is the only funding source that eBay sellers are allowed to block."

    Tom, NOT true.

I once won an auction that was a pay by Paypal only .
Well, I did not have a CC on record, so all my transactions via Paypal was an eCheck.
This seller did not accept eChecks. When I asked eBay about that, they had no problem with the seller insisting a 'regular' Paypal payment.
So, in fear of getting a NPB I listed a CC with PP & paid with an 'instant' payment.
Stupid thing was that by the time my eCheck was rejected, questions were asked & answered, options weighed, and CC entered the whole time for the 'instant' payment was no faster than accepting the eCheck & waiting a few days to clear.

So they allow them to block e-checks since they are lower profit to them....

    Yep.
    That's old news.

It's also why I will give discounted (or, on high value items, free) shipping for echecks, money orders, or cashier's checks.
I still offer to accept the regular paypal any way they want it, so I am well within ebay's rules, but if you don't take time to learn the rules your gonna get dinged.

Ajia, read the post by Mrpotatohead right above yours......explains it.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
