I just can't resist first gen. holders

Yeah, I know that the picture is terrible, which means that, yes, I know, I bought the plastic and not the coin, but I am rarely disappointed on auctions like these.

lots of glare on that pic but fortunately the glare is right on Liberty's cheek, and i must say that cheek looks clean!! you just might have scored an upgrade

Coin arrived today. Very interesting. Very late die state. a lot of orange peel surfaces. A lot of cracks where I am not accustomed to seeing them. Two seperate clashes. On some levels a late-die-state dog. On other levels, a very interesting coin. MS64 is a fair grade for it.

Unfortunately, the only digital camera we own is at least five years old and I've never really practiced using it--especially not for coins.

<< <i>a lot of orange peel surfaces. >>

I've found that the majority of 1886s I've handled have orange peel surfaces... good thing I like the look image

I was just looking on VAM World. Under "VAMs not assigned varieties" There are several pictures which are exactly like this coin. The "railroad track" clash marks from the wing to the "I" in "IN", the die break coming from cap, "Clash mark at neck with no visible transferred lettering" and "Reverse die sinking near denticles" are all evident on this coin. I no longer regret not being able to photograph my coin because these pictures are better than I could produce anyway.

Well, Liberty looks a little down, but it's probably a nice coin.

sorry, but it looks just about like a common silver round & the chunk of plastic adds nothing to it. you paid about double what you should of

dorkkarl is sorta right you know.
there are many older folks who have rolls of these morgans
    just sitting away in BU.

i never understood why people pay a premium for them.
my dad is one of them. bought during the early 80s.
about 100 BU morgan silver dollars, not true keys, but unslabbed
and sitting in a safety deposit box.

chasing coins is not a great way to collect when there is several
    more right around the corner.

buying from bad pics aint helping either.
