understandable, but, you can look at the prices of stuff i sold, compare it to others, i actually do very well. there was a comment written on this forum that said he would be scared he wouldnt recieve it, when the very first thing i wrote was i will ship first. i dont see how someone is scared if i ship first, do you?
If a few people from here gave you lowball offers, I understand your hesitation to believe anything that's written here. However, that doesn't take away from the fact that 96.3 is a terrible ebay rating, which is backed up by the fact that ebay will suspend you for dipping below 95% in a 90 day period. There's just no excuse for not responding to emails or offering refunds on broken merchandise. Mots people who buy cards would not buy from someone with a history of poor customer service.
there is no way im going to have the customer service to return broken items, systems or cards. you take a chance, you guys preach on the gamble of ebay, same with systems or games, if you didnt get insurance, which probably only a 1/3 of the people get, than tough. but 96.3 percent is more than enough to show reliability, if you want to pay 50 percent more like some of you are doing than go ahead, i dont see how 2 percent feedback difference will make any difference hardly in price, nonetheless 50 percent. if you want a perfect item or a refund then always buy insurance. im not offering walmarts customer service for the stuff i sell, give me a negative instead. no problems with ebay so far.
You have convinced yourself that you aren't losing bidders because you have rationalized to yourself to be happy with the prices you received for things you sell, but believe me, you are losing a good % of money, especially when you venture into the world of sports cards/sports collectibles where it is adults bidding instead of kids bidding on video games. Maybe in the video game portion of eBay your feedback rating matters a little less because its some kid is saying "mommy i don't care what his numbers say, I want it", but in the sports cards/sports collectibles portion of eBay, I can assure you that your feedback matters. If every eBayer that has seen your feedback and decided not to bid because of it took the time to email you saying "i would have bid on your item, but you aren't reliable in my opinion" your email box would explode.
you should try gambling more. ill take a 96.3 percent shot at an item for 100 dollars, instead of a 100 percent shot at the same item but for twice the money. ill take the 96.3 all day long. and i just wanted to point out earlier, you were scared to bid because you might not get the item, yet you were gonna bid because it wouldnt go for anything because of my feedback, that doesnt make sense, it has to be one or the other. and also you didnt read the original post, i said i would ship first. read that
I THOUGHT about buying it so that I would scoop up the money your feedback will surely leave on the table, but that feedback history shows that I may not receive it.
And I was correct, as that final price shows quite a bit of money unrealized in this auction. Tough break on that final price, but given your feedback I wont be surprised if the box never actually makes it to winner of the auction.
nobody would pay 400 for the box in that condition. one sold graded 7.5 for 506 i think it was, mine is nowhere close. and i did say interestingly on this forum i would ship first, i mean come on, 5 people wouldnt bid 100 bucks because of 96 .3 percent feedback but would bid 400 if i had 99. your dreaming i do believe, i agree i probably lost a little, but nowhere near 50 percent (or 300 dollars?!?)
i admit i didnt get quite as much as 100 percent feedback would, but common sense in what these boxes have sold for in the past says your dead wrong, 400 bucks, ill fly there and give it to them in person (free flight for a vacation somewhere), tell that to you buddies, the offer is on the table.
I hope that you are kidding when you say you'd cancel and refund at this point. You're going to have an even harder time on these boards from here on out if that is your policy.
im 42 years old, i might be dumb, but no dumb enough like you pay double for items, it must be nice to have the funds to do that, i thought i was doing well in life, id love to know how you made it through life paying so much more for a little added security. any risk taker would pick up my box for less than 100 if it was really worth 400 dollars, common sense, THEY WOULD. you know it, everybody knows it. anybody here would put 100 on the table if they had a 96.3 percent chance on getting a 400 dollar item. if you would not do that sir, than you might really want to rethink who is the dumb one.
yah, i was gonna charge 39.75, but i figure id cut off 10 bucks, less money in my pocket but owell, goose, you said id get atleast 50, i got it. ill just keep the box then, ill refund the buyer and get another negative, it doesnt make a difference.
i do appreciate your advice goose, just some other members here worry way way way to much about feedback. i realize that people make this my living, i just do it for an extra 100 to 200 a week (thank the lord for yard sales). ebay allows me to sell on here, i get great money over what i pay, the stuff is everywhere for nothing where i live. i got it made on ebay from my standpoint. a negative wont stop a 300 dollar decision is thats what it is worth like ive been told
overpriced shipping on your items, yes, your ripping off yoru customers and putting some extra money in your pocket, BUT they are giving you bad ratings thats reflected both in your feedback and in the star ratings on your ebay profile, its the FIRST thing that stood out. In the long run, and apparently in the short term your costing yourself bids and business.
<<you should try gambling more. ill take a 96.3 percent shot at an item for 100 dollars, instead of a 100 percent shot at the same item but for twice the money. ill take the 96.3 all day long. and i just wanted to point out earlier, you were scared to bid because you might not get the item, yet you were gonna bid because it wouldnt go for anything because of my feedback, that doesnt make sense, it has to be one or the other. and also you didnt read the original post, i said i would ship first. read that >>
By the way, everyone also knows that 96% feedback is probably closer to 90% actual customer satisfaction (if that) since a high percentage of people that are wronged do not leave negative feedback because they don't want to receive the retaliatory negative.
Clearly the concept of business ethics escapes you. Agreeing to sell something at a certain price and renegging on that agreement because more money came along is about as slimey as it gets. The fact that you're in your 40s and don't realize this pretty much says there's no help for you. I'm glad you're happy with yourself because no one else is.
If I had to guess, I'd say you're a contractor of some kind, probably somewhere in the plumbing or roofing sector.
So we tell you that Buyers will be weary of your feedback, you say bid with confidence, and then decide you'll take another negative for a higher price.
See how things eventually circle around and come back to the point?

You actually think I'd help you further you unethical business practices?
HAHA LOL
Trust me, even though I know people who would pay alot more money for that box...none of them would but it from you after reading your posts.
You're 42 years old, yet you think $400 is "alot" of money...so much money that you are willing to ruin your EBAY rep even more, and scam the winning bidder? You sound more like 12.
I think the discussion has degenerated beyond recovery, but if justinstaff cares to listen, 96.3 positive is terrible feedback. If you really believe that doesn't hurt you, you're kidding yourself. I personally won't bid on auctions if the seller has less than 99%. Many people won't leave a neg for fear of a retalitory neg in return so you can pretty much quadruple the neg percentage to get a more accurate indicator. Nothing personal, but I'm guessing a lot more than 3.7% of your customers received broken junk.
What's really funny is that Justin's not going to live up to his contract to sell the item at the winning price, hoping to then get one of the board members to pay a higher price for it. Like we believe you're going to come through with the item?? Justin, CD is quite correct in that business ethics seem to have passed you by.
sold the box locally on craigslist tonight (320 dollars) i wouldnt have even thought about selling it elsewhere if it werent for you guys.thanks, ive only made a few posts and you guys have already made me 2 days pay over what it sold for on ebay. thanks so much guys
Always entertaining to read BS from the latest thief of the month. And when they try to defend the fact that they are a dirtbag, well, that's almost sad.

Ebay says this guy lives in Norfolk, VA. I searched all regions of Virginia on craigslist.com and found no listing for a 1958 box. Help me out guys, am I missing something? I don't know that much about craigslist.

It wouldn't surprise me if he never even had a 1958 box for sale in the first place. Might have just been trolling here for a scam.

Don't waste anymore time on the idiot. He's lying...probably never had the box in the first place like grote15 said.
I personally believe he has the box and will be selling it to the ebay high bidder. He knows that we are right in our assumptions and had to make up a story to show that we were wrong and he was right, and on top of that is trying to make us jealous.
I still think somebody needs to contact the buyer.
I did not pay that much attention to this thread, but is that the only picture of this box offered ?
What it looks like to me is just the bottom of the box , not the whole box .
Surely if you sell on E-Bay , shouldn't one know how to take a picture and post it correctly ?
Sounds like a scam to me .
If you want to come onto these boards and rip off decent people that are always willing to help you out in so many ways, that is a double edged sword and it slices both ways .
Never mistake kindness for weakness , I personally know 3 people here that will come to your house and kick your door in and grab you by the neck and if it just ends there you are a lucky man .
Just my 2 cents . . . .
Oh . . . and F/U Justin .
And to the rest of the board members , I apologize for this , I just got really angry reading what is going on here .
justinstaffinfection, Too bad you sold it on craigslist for $320.00, I was about to offer you $320.50 for it. If you ship it first I will pay, cross my heart.
lol, you guys are so easy, i have the box, im gonna ship it to the high bidder, i didnt sell it on craigslist, nobody locally would pay anything for it (im guessing). man you guys are easy to get stirred up. this was kinda fun watching you guys get so pissed at me, and my parents, like its there fault. people are gonna kick in my door, im not gonna live to see next year. look at all these threats. its too easy at collectors universe to make people mad at these forums. loosen up everyone, have a laugh, didnt anyone catch on that i started talking crazy. and everyone took it so seriously and only one person thought i even had the box. give it a break guys. this is a joke on you guys, everyone stop making stupid threats and everything else over a box, your lives are better than that. dont worry about the small stuff. everything anyone questions here for authenticity is a fake to you guys, if somebody says is this gonna be a psa 8 or 9, chaz comesback with something like a 5 (see i have been reading these boards, another person WRONG). be optimistic and stop acting like everything is a scam. thats all thats ever said, after all, its not 96.3 of the time.
All that's missing is you saying "Psych". Gotta love a guy in his 40s trying to get a rise out of people by making up stories on an internet message board. I guess making up fake wikipedia entries is getting old so you need some other way to entertain yourself.

I gave you some good advice on what to do with the box.
Not that I want to jump on the pile here but 29.75 to ship a PS and some games?
