Is this 1916-D Mercury dime in Pcgs ms-65 FB really have full bands?

  the pic might not be up to par. the middle bands just look odd.

  BUFB – Brilliant Uncirculated with Full Bands: This grade is unique to Mercury Dimes. FB refers to the condition of the horizontal bands tying together the bundle on the fasces, on the coin's reverse. On well-struck examples, separation exists within the two sets of bands known as Full Bands.

  Wouldn't dare touch it. The upper and lower band definition is easily seen in the photos. My thoughts are that whatever condition the center band is in, it's not as full as you'd want for your $45K.

  If it's in a PCGS holder, fully split all the way, no question.
  
  if it's in an NGC (or other holder) - how did that get that designation and in a 65 holder no less!

  Don't bet on the coin not being a mechanical error. There are full band 1916-D coins listed all the way down as low as the grades are listed. I would ask for much better photos if I had that kind of money to drop on a coin like that.

  Key dates often times get a lot.. I mean a LOT... of slack. I've seen 16-P SLQ's with the FH designation that were completely flat heads

  And those are the kinds of coins you want your competition to buy...so your truly full head and full banded coins really stand out.
  Just because leeway is granted doesn't mean it's right. Look at the big banks lined up with those derivative CDO's....all rated AAA by the top "TPG." Doesn't make it reality by any means.
