My first PCGS submission results are in

and I believe this might be called beginner's luck. There are also some cross overs in but this is the one I most hoped for.

    Congrats!

I remember my first sub! Bunch of PR69's on some SAE's. Its a great feeling!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

I'll give you 5 bucks to send in my Jefferson Proof! With luck like that, I can't lose. image
  • I had high hopes for a 70 after I looked at this quick pic I took to take a close look at the details.

  • They're going for about $820 on ebay now. Do you plan to flip or keep?
  • I plan on flipping it, but not now while so many are listed. I may sell closer to Christmas, or possibly hold it for a year or two.

Great job on your first submisson considering you pulled a "Babe Ruth' and called it a homerun before it happened.image
  • A lot of credit at seeing the quality has to go to all the things I'm learning thanks to the many on this board who share their knowledge. Thanks guys.

  • Congrats on the 70!!! What else was in your submission?
  • They do this to hook you. image
I'd rather be lucky than good.
  • On my third or fourth submission I got my first MS70... a 2007-W $10 APE.
  • Dumb question, I have noticed several people posting results and getting 70's when they are only sending in 1 coin. Is it possible that since the graders have no other coins in that submission to compare, that you may get a slightly better grade? If you submit 5 coins and 1 comes back a 70, your happy, but are you missing more 70's because the graders are comparing to others?

Getting all my '44 Mint set in PCGS holders, hopefully. It does include a very nice 44-S FB Merc in a PCI holder and I'll let you know how it does.

    Congrats.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

Congrats on the grade. image My first coin to grade 70 was an unc 2001 $10G eagle and it really is a great feeling. I stopped collecting them but that's why the classics can be fun as there are always higher grades to work on.

One of the trends I have seen in regards to modern coinage is that there are certain coins that receive the greatest attention to detail and it usually is when there is a lot of concern over the popularity and of the high cost of the coin. The spouse comms and the platinum eagles are definitely in that category. This is certainly NOT because the Mint wants to make sure you get the best but rather to get you to buy them and NOT return them. I am actually surprised at how many coins are returned each year which is good because several of my Mint orders were fulfilled from returns.

Sometimes old dogs learn new tricks so I see an up tick in quality between the Adams and Jefferson runs both in the Pres and FL coins so tons of MS67s, MS70s & PR70s. I tend to think the Jeff Lib $10 obverse will be the most attractive of the series as I don't think they will make any of the real FLs look that sexy. The Mint even threw in a little cleavage. image

Sadly, numismatics as a whole takes a serious hit when we devalue a coin because it's NOT a 70.
Congrats and good luck on the FLIP image
  • Stop now and you will never be dissapointed! Way to go!
