  62 , strike , luster and marks keep it from being any better. Does not appear to be any wear on coin.

  Looks to be a very weak strike.... should be a MS61

  For those of you who said MS 64 hit it right on the button. 1928 D is one of the worst struck date / mm for the buffalos. This one throws alot of people off.

  Took a closer look... Might be.. today we would call it Machine doubling? back then?? who knows. Cool at either rate.

  I agree that the quality for this date is not great... and 64 is about right. I was expecting a lower grade based more on the description of the holder... old NGC Fattie...
