I see a coin I sold on ebay last week has been relisted and looks a little different

What do you think, was the color messed with or just the photo? The coin below does not look like the coin I sold, the photo on top is just what it looks like.

compare these coins, what do you think?

I agree that the new seller simply takes lousy pictures. He gets credit for taking his own pictures and not simply reusing yours, tho.

If I was a buyer, I wouldn't even notice that the color was so different in the pics. I never trust the color in eBay listings from unskilled sellers.

The current seller describes the coin as a VF/XF (which is a bit silly).

But I think the "XF Details" that seateddime used to describe the coin in his auction is a bit off too.

It's the same coin, look at the subtle changes in color in the fields. The patterns are the same in both sets of pictures.

In looking at the background of the images, you can also see that the color there is different, so the "change" is clearly a difference in photographic skills and/or lighting.

No....what you have is a POSSIBILITY. If you KNEW for a FACT that the reason the new seller's picture were off in color was for that reason, it would be different, but, as some have already pointed out, it can easily be atttributed to someone's photographic skills (or lack of).

I took some, very quick, photos of the TJ 1st spouse coins that came out like his photos....they were downstairs in my kitchen at 1am with no attempt for anything other than a quick picture. Very off in color.

Too many people ASSume things about others and why they do stuff.....I see no reason to hang the new seller of this dime unless there was substantial evidence he was deceptive. I don't think there is at this stage.

The 1878-cc dime appears to be the same,

but the 1891 appears to be two different coins.

The deep dark toned areas of the reverse positively prove the 78-cc dime photos are the same coin. The new photos give the impression that the coin is corroded....not so in the first photo.
