Correct me if I'm wrong, but it was also the first DVD to be produced in 6.1 Surround Sound.

It is imo one of the best movies ever. Im not sure about the sound thing but it does sound awesome on my pc. I just watched a few scenes

So do you have to have 6 speakers for 6.1 dolby digital to work correctly? I remember when Robin Hood Prince of Thieves came out on VHS...that's when I got surround sound for the first time...listening to that arrow zip through the forest and split the other arrow was totally amazing.

I don't have 6.1, but I have heard that with the rear center channel connected, when that ax gets thrown in the opening fight scene, that it sounds like it is coming right over your head.

You need a 6.1 system to run it correctly. There's an extra speaker (a rear center).
