Hard to tell from the photos...maybe dipped at some point, but I'm not sure- I like to see more darkness in the protected areas on a VG coin...

Only you can tell if that coin satisfies both your eye and your budget, but 1837 Capped Bust hald dimes, at least generically if not by die marriage, are readily available, particularly in grades like VG. If you are seeking a nice, problem free example of the Capped Bust half dimes for your type set, and date and die marriage do not matter, you might consider looking at other years, like 1831, 1834, or 1835, which seem to come up more often. For a type set addition, you want to pay for grade, quality and eye appeal, and not rarity, so those dates might be more suitable.

That picture makes a determination difficult, but nice examples of the Capped Bust half dimes are available with very little searching, so be a little fussy and don't rush into a purchase that you may one day regret.

Good for your Dansco type set......depends......what's your budget and what do the other coins in the set look like?

The image is of low resolution, but the coin appears problem-free.

Oh, I ALWAYS attribute them. If it had been an LM-2 or LM-3, my recommendation would have been to buy it. image

Nice coin... I always look for problem free coins with the full obv, & rev rims.

I think you did OK. Likely, you would have paid more at a brick and mortar coin shop.

It looks nice and original... but honestly, keep looking for a problem free VF with that same kind of color, IMO... it'll take some searching and patience, but you should be able to buy one for $75-$100...
