Well I dont think it will end any time soon with oil. Will be some time until everything levels off, hopefully that includes the dollar picking up some speed.

    Gold - $751.50
    Platinum - $1400
    Silver - $13.80

If Platinum blows much past $1400 the proofs will be pulled....maybe by next week.

I think $760 is a given for gold but we all know there will be a retreat along the way.

Most of the usual "top" callers were looking for a fall back to $650-$715...........it didn't happen. At least not yet.

I talked with my brother a few days ago and his dealer in St. Louis said he's not selling much high end material but bullion related coins are spinning out the door faster than he can get stock in. I don't know if that's typical with all dealers but it's starting to look like 79 all over again.image

Oh-Tay! Finally bought some so's I can comment in these gold threads, as per Red Tiger's dictate.

And Dave, I bought some oil today too, so I've got both ends of the cause-and-effect spectrum covered. 5w-30 it was, from the purest light Iraqi crudeimage

Im not buying anymore. I dont want to invest any more than I already have. Its a great investment, but the market can be too unpredictable.

I wish that spike hadn't ever happened since it was man made. Just think in 1974 gold was $35 dollars an ounce and it's way up in 30 years.

Unlike 79/80 this is a global run on PM's. The US goverment doesn't have a Hunt's brothers to pick on to restore order this timeimage

Not yet. $875 was the 1980 high. Still $125 to go. And even at that, those are in 1980 dollars where $4000 could buy you a new car. Today, figure on 3X that price. It has taken 20 years to break the previous non-commodity cycle. How much longer will this current 6 yr cycle last? 5 yrs? 10 yrs? Recognize also that peak to peak tops don't mean everything. To those that bought gold in 2001 at the $260 bottom, they have nearly tripled their money, while most quality gold stocks are up 5X to 10X in just 6 years. I agree, the gold bugs finally called it right...and they've been right for 6 yrs despite the teachings of Dollardude and other luminaries.
