Are the weak rims coupled with the strong central detail common for these later bust halves.

thanks any help.

edit to add - or is this abnormal wear.

That is an odd wear pattern - almost like someone scraped it across the ground. The few bust halves that I have are worn but do not show that type of wear.

It's just part of the die. Other examples of that have been seen with star weakness on the other side of the coin.

Nice crusty example though.

That is not an unusual wear pattern at all for this issue.
