Now THIS is some blue copper!

Yeah it's darkside, but I couldn't resist showing her off over here. image

Got it in the mail today, NGC MS63 BN. An aquisition from NEN.

Only problem: the dang thing is impossible to photograph well (at least it is for me image ).

Straight on shots don't reveal the extent of the color, and angled glass doesn't show the lustre and the pics come out grainy. The coin is exceptionally lustrous.

I affectionately call it "Britannia in a Storm" as the reverse looks like there are lightning flashes going off around her. image

I shudder to think what a U.S. half cent or large cent from 1799 looking like this would cost. image

Copper is truly amazing. Very nice.
  • I was just at their site before reading this. They have an enormous, and I mean huge, inventory of blue ngc slabbed foreign coins. Reminded me of the stuff that coinguy discussed at length here.

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
