Does this look like a scam to you?

Good feedback, but a money order for that much? Do people actually do that?

  • I would say that a blank post is a scam, yes. image I don't think what you wanted to post came up.

Never mind, now its up. image

Well, I don't know much, but I looked it up in the PSA verification area and it said it was authentic. At least the Jordan is. (the one I like) Just a rookie's input... image

  • My guess is he's okay. He doesn't have paypal and probably not set up to take credit cards and thinks the best way to protect himself is by requiring MOs. Used to deal with a guy from NY a lot who didn't take paypal or credit cards, on one deal had to send him about three MOs - the difference is that my seller had lots of feedback. If you are really interested in the auction, contact the seller and ask him why he only accepts MOs.

I think the high opening is killing the auction.

I kind of prefer paypal unless I know the person - like sandiegowill doesn't take paypal but totally trustworthy.

It's not an "automatic" throwout, but you'd have to be nuts to send him a money order for this lot. The only way to smartly buy this would be to win the bid, then inspect the lot in person and hand him the money order or cash if the lot is legit - if not and he won't allow you to inspect it, then simply don't pay for it and you might take a neg - So what!
  • Most likely not a scam, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable. . .

Nothing about the auction/seller would lead me to believe it's a scam. Not everyone takes paypal and not everyone takes checks, he just happens to not take both. His terms and conditions may be unappealing to you, but a scam? No.

Didnt look to see what his previous sales were, so it may or may not be legit, but on something like this, I would buy it in person and not send an MO. Although I think the opening bid of $1500 is more than fair.
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

I tend to agree with what SteveK says... I don't think it is a scam but dealing with that kind of money gets me a little nervous with little or no protection.

  • Yeah, I'd like to bid on the set, and I think a $1500 opening bid is fair. I sent him a mail to make other arrangements, but all I got back was:

"Sorry, money order only. I have a 100% positive feedback as a seller on Ebay. Thank you."

Just can't risk it, too bad. Somebody will probably get a deal on this if it is legit b/c of the risk involved.

The more I look at this the more I don't like it - I think there's a good possibility it's a scam - Not 100% sure, but pretty sure.

It would make me too nervous. I would skip this one.

He may be the most honest dealer on the .net, but with no guarantee or protection other than his word, I'd definitely skip this one.

The only way I'd make the exception is if he was a local dealer and would allow me to actually visit his store and inspect the merchandise itself before buying.
  • Well, it got a bid. No response to my request to inspect the set. Hope that guy doesn't get screwed.

  • At first glance I said to myself his feedback is good and the money order deal, I guess its because he dosen't wama pay the high fees for paypal. But then when I looked at his scans of the cards and noticed that 2 of them were small while the other were big? Why wouldn't he have the same size scans? You know what I mean? Did anybody notice this? I would stay away from this auction even if it were legit but thats just me, you do what you fell is right for you but I wouldn't go for it. Hope that helpsimage
  • Nah, I'm not bidding on this for several reasons.

    1. Money order only. Wasn't flexible enough to work something else out. I asked.
    2. Never got back to me when I asked to view the set.
    3. Highest previous sale $118.
    4. No sales of any 86 Fleer before, or anything even remotely high value.
    5. Only been a member since May 16.
    6. Weird scans.

Guess I'll just have to find the remaining 35 cards on my own.
