Design change for PCGS slabs?

Seems like every few years PCGS redesigns either the holder or the label, how long do you think it will be before something is changed this time? Do you think it will be the label or the slab that gets modified?

My vote- get rid of the stacking tabs, they chip / break off too easily

Comments

  • They added the copyright one the back of the label not too long ago.

  • I wish they've move the bar code back to the reverse side of the slab like it used to be.

So, how do you stack them?

  • Not trying to rock the boat but the NGC slabs stack just fine and there are no tabs to break off. There are a dozen different ways to design them without stacking tabs that are not so vulnerable to damage.

They usually come from the dealers with the tabs already broken.

then stop buying already slabbed coins!!!image of course, if it really matters you can get things re-holdered or switch into a different service's holder.

actually, PCGS recently changed the insert design, perhaps a year or so ago and the previous few changes have all been to the insert. i don't see any reason to change the holder itself since the PCGS slab tends to stack the best, for me at least. but then i don't generally stack them, they're either in an Intercept Shield slab box, Eagle album or a PCGS/NGC 20 coin box.

why do you stack the slabs, anyway??

I like the stacking tabs. I use them when I take some to work to show people and also when I take pics of multiple coins in slabs....I just stack them up image

  • I would like to see them use Tri View gaskets with Bust Halves as well as all other lettered edge coins. Even if they make it an option and charge a few bucks extra.

  • "Tri-view gaskets" and add an abbreviated tag on the top of the holder. Rob
