I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

I think the grade looks pretty accurate. I'm not sure about the surfaces though, possibly cleaned image

I believe the mm is in the wrong place.

  • MM looks good to me, as far as I can tell from the crappy pic. Cleaned for sure.

I grade the coin vg8 details, cleaned.
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

  • Am I the only one who thinks the MM is bogus? When you compare the two (genuine is on the left), the MM of the eBay coin doesn't have the serifs and the flat top and bottom of the genuine D. The top and bottom of the genuine mintmark should be parallel lines extending into the large serifs. I don't see that on the smaller, oval D on the eBay specimen. And just what is Collectors' Grading Service, anyway?

Just my opinion from what I can see.

I'm not super crazy about that mm either. You know there are a lot "more" 16-D's out there than were actually minted in 1916 in Denver. image
  • Boy, you got that right! This is one of the most forged dates. As they often say, you should buy a certified example. I would add to say "from one of the top four reputable TPG services."

Yea, grade's not really the issue. It's the authenticity.

Garrow's right...... stay with the TPG's
