In a newer ANACS slab. What say you. BTW, Still working on my copper photography skills.
I think the coin looks nicer than the picture, however it has been graded a 61.. Go figure.

I think it has a good chance as a 65.

My first impression was 64, but 65 would be fine for me. image

Color is too uneven for MS-64, so I will go with MS-63.

  • Lock 64 BN, but could be a 65. Well struck. Nice coin, would be proud to own it.
  • I don't particularly care for the look of the coin. Technical grade is high, though. I vote ANACS MS64. Personally, I would not pay 64 money for that coin though.

  • My first impression was MS64. However, after a closer inspection of the photo it seems that there is a decent "cut" above the indian's ear.

So, I will go with MS63 BN. Nice coin!

Great obverse strike, full feathers. Lots of typical coppernickel woodgrain.
The luster is hard to access from the dark image, and the obverse looks a bit blotchy in areas.

I see a small gash to the lower left of the shield, and a bit of weak strike on the upper reverse shield.

But it looks like a nice original CN 1862. It has a gem strike but enough problems to MS63 it.

    Nice coin.

  • Looks like a nice picture. I would say 64 or 65 RB

I'll take it for 61 money.

It looks like a nice coin and is very mark free. I said MS62 earlier because the coin has no luster. MS62 seems to be the highest they will grade a lusterless coin. MS61 I can see that too.

Follow up - The Coin arrived today. I love the strike and real happy with this one very nice example and Wes was easy to deal with reasonable price and fast ship. I would call this coin MS63 so it is one nice MS61.

I saw the ms61 answer first,

but if I hadn't seen it, I still would have guessed ms64 to ms65.

    nice coin anyway!!
