Roosevelt Experts - What Happened to this Coin??
I've never seen this before. Any ideas what may have caused this at the Mint??

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I will take a guess that you found it in a roll, in which case that is damage from the sorting/rolling machine.
if you found the coin in a bag, then damage from sorting and counting machines.
if you found it in a mint set, then perhaps a minor error of some sort in the minting process but after striking.

Kind of funny, post mint damage but still in the mint sealed unc celo.
It's much more common on smaller/ lighter coins (especially dimes). It
peaked in 1975 where about 3% of the dimes have this damage to vary-
ing degrees.
If the coin isn't near the center of its compartment before sealing then
this is a common result. Frequently you'll see that adjoining compartments
aren't sealed.
