$400 for a set of Kennedy Halves 1964-2006

And an Adams first spouse, With an UNCIRCULATED (WOW) Presidential dollar for only $1000

Ugh it makes me ill... Is anyone else watching this?

I saw that too. I wonder if people think they are getting a good deal?
  • It amazes me that they sold over 150 of these sets at $1k each...

I feel bad for the people that buy them.
  • I never watch long enough to hear the spiel, I'm quick with the remote and I don't need to raise my blood pressure by watching it.

You can fool some of the people some of the time ......!

They have been on the air for a long time so they are finding lots of idiots!
  • Did the Kennedy set include Proofs? I think without the proofs the set goes for about 150 on ebay. Or somewhere around there. Not sure about a BU set W/ Proof and Silver Proof.

i happened to catch a glimpse this evening when they were seling PR70DCAM sets of the Presidential Dollars and the Gold First Spouse $10.......................in ICG slabs for the discount price of $999!!!!!

why is it that i'm never watching when they sell anything in PCGS holders??
  • One thing you've got to remember,, some of the coins they sell are knee jerk reaction then buyers remorse.... I personaly talked a friend of mine into sending back to HSH network bought late night after midnight a $20 gold eagle certified by NGC back about six years ago... She thought it was a "Real Good Deal".... But then again maybe it was,, if I remember right I think she paid $599 for the one ouncer St. Gaudens... Gold then was at $315. an Oh Zee... image .. But anyway,, a lot of it is all hype,, TV is expensive and these guy's keep coming back so they must be selling something....
  • And then next year when the need money and want to sell? They look at me like I am ripping them off. I try to explain that the "rip-off" occured some time ago, but they still look at me like I am the bad guy. I can understand why some coin dealers get a thick skin.
  • they'd sell a drowning man a liferaft for 40k
  • yep i watched some of it and was just shocked at the prices they try to move stuff at. The sad part is they have to be moving something to stay around. I was watching when they where trying to sell proof sets. The deal was 1995-1998 proof sets for 200 bux. The guy says "its so rare we get these sets, Where lucky we can do this at most 3 times year". He goes on and on and then says "proof sets are in such high demand right now, especially the 50's sets". "when we get a 1955 set which would run about $500 they just fly". A 1955 proof set for $500!!! Ive bought 2 1955 proof sets with cameo halfs at a local dealer for $175 for both sets! Heck you can go on ebay and get them from 175 or way less per set. I still love watching the show though its always good for a laugh. Any one catch the part where he tries to compare the first spouse golds to the 20th ann. reverse proof lol.

You can make out on some stuff if you wait 10 years. Coin Vault is always pitching the 1999 Silver Proof Set they sold initially for $59.00. Of course they say it is now worth $600. About $300 over the estimated value today.

  • I saw it when flipping through the channels and had to stop for a few minutes to get some laughs. Those guys are pretty good at acting excited.

Television is not that entertaining. At least the coin show is a reality show. Somehow we don't feel as stupid when we watch it, as those who partake in it after they turn it off !

Last time I saw the Kennedy Half W/Proofs sets on coin vault it was $1500 or more
(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?
  • I like to watch those guys. One of the better comedies on TV.

It's the kind of stuff that gives coin collecting a bad name.

Never watched it. Like to think it helps create collectors who will soon learn enough to shop elswhere. I like to think of it as free advertising for the hobby.
