Becareful if you open a set, Wow! What a Nice Set!

I decided to open 2 out of 6 Units to check.

I'm shocked on the wonderful quality of these two kits!

I had planned on selling all 6 Coins, but I just can't!

This is a classic coin without the crap and build-up on the surface, without the toning that you never know is real or not.

There were rumors of odd toning areas on other posts -- are you saying yours are clear and without flaws?

I hope so, mine are still MIA...

Coinboy I can feel your pain, I hate when I get something to flip and wind up wanting to keep it for my collection, seems that I have been accumilating more than I'm selling lately.

  • Very Clean! I thought the 3-coin 2006 20th Anniversary ASE Set was nice, but this is a remarkable idea in packaging. The deep yellow-mustard slip cover & Box contrasted against the soild-fell Coin case is nice and heavy as you hold it. It has the nice cloth liner and the coins themselves are held in a seem-less looking Air-Tite Capsule vs, the stogy regular capsules.

You fall in love with them!

This sub-series featuring the Lady Liberties are a deal among themselves.

Just checked eBay and there are 164 Jefferson Liberty auctions and I fully expect double that by Monday evening, Majority of these sellers are weak holders and the only thing to do is wait them out, I did that with the Washington First Day Covers and ended up selling mine for almost double the prices the flippers received.

I agree it is a TERRIBLE mistake to sell these at $600

But it is never a bad idea to take a profit.

I should be a politician, huh? image

It all depends on what you do with the profit. In my case I don't need cash and have no better place to park my money then in these coins. I see these coins soaring in future years.

Why flip? This auction ends in 2 hours, currently at $510.

Purchased for $430, plus $5 shipping thats a 17.2% profit, minus 10% for Paypal, final value fee's, time spent, etc.....

I used 10% to keep it simple, probably more like 8.9%.

Your looking at a net profit of $25 + or - a few.

Like some maintan a profit is a profit.

now 'scuse me...I have a bad case of the hars.... I have to call my candy man to see if he's open yet.

Oh yeah!....later on in the addiction you get whats known as the hars.

the antsy feeling you get in the pit of your stomach...anticipating that there might be someting you want at a show,
but hoping it don't cost more than you have on you. Then you further hope that if it does cost more than you have...what else could you trade ...(not coins) to get it? OR MAYBE JUST MAYBE THE GUY is understanding enough to
take all your money and put the coin in "LAY-A-WAY".

then the deal is done ...your "fix" is in the veins!....ALL IS WELL......................................................................for now.

Coinboy, how do you figure the government screws you each and every day. The government provides services for our tax dollars one of which is protection from other governments. This allows you to practice capitalism and the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Now if you lived in Syria, Iran, Iraq, USSR, Afghanistan or any number of other countries, you might have a legitimate gripe. Is the glass half full or half empty? image

Funny how they did the same stuff, before deciding to set up a tax that was supposed to be temporary, how quickly people forget...
  • Coinboy, how do you figure the government screws you each and every day

    One small and brief example:

No Federal Employee is enrolled in the Social Security System.

    No Mint Employee,

No Senator, no Congressman. NO ONE.

They get a much better system than you will ever dream of..... And you and me pay for it.

It all balances out Coinboy, believe me. I work for a federal agency and I make a sacrifice for my country every time I get my paycheck. I could be making MUCH MUCH more working in the private industry. I just graduated college in May and am watching my friends and classmates with the same degree (who had worse grades than I did) make nearly double my annual salary in the private industry. Luckily, I love my job everyday and take pride in it, so that is a sacrifice I am willing to make. The better benefits I receive as a federal employee NOWHERE near compensate for the difference in pay I receive. What does compensate for the difference is that my job is like a dream. That's just my two cents at least.

LOL! You DO NOT MAKE A "SACRIFICE" unless you are in the military.

There is no gun to your head! Go find a job outside of Govt. and avoid that big "Sacrifice" if you are NOT happy!

However, I can gauarantee you that the days of matching pension contributions ONLY exsist in the Federal Govt.

The days off, the comp package you get exceeds anything in private industry. It is a plain fact.

I'm not jealous, I just don't like paying for it when everyone who does not work for the Fed does NOT get the same deal.

You work in Fantasy Land and we pay the admission and the bennies.

Now, THAT is a freakn' Crime!

If ANYONE desreves the Fed Package it is you guys.

I would gladly pay for that!

  • All federal employees and postal employees hired as of January 1, 1984 have been in the Social Security System. Maybe not Congress critters--but rank and file have.

Congressional members now pay into the SS system. It's a fairly recent event. You'll also see emails on this very topic, bemoaning the fact that "they" don't pay into it.

This thread sure took an interesting non-numismatic turn. Just the mention of "Government" or "Government employees" is controversial, much like the modern crapola arguments. image

The one reason I teach, however, is that I love it image
  • Hey Coinboy.
You state you have 6, when you should have two.
You admit this on a public forum.
Some people on this forum were cancelled, because they tried to do the same as you. (Greedy)
Some people got shut out because they ordered too late. (late)
Some people just accepted the limits and got two. (Honest)
Is it any wonder that people are not buying your, "I deserve more than you!" attitude?

Open all of the coins, take some medication (If you don't have any, see any Doctor) and enjoy looking at those gold coins. Consider yourself lucky that the Mint Police aren't knocking at your door.

I am sorry my comment was of little real value to you. But that is simply an opinion of yours. Enjoy the coins, don't flip them, you might make a pretty good collector. No need to resort to name calling.

Sigh... it seems that you are quite an emotional person. I never said there was a gun to my head, and I definitely never said that I am not happy. In fact, I specifically said that I love my job and take pride in it. Of course the comp package exceeds that of the private industry, but it all evens out with the paycheck received in the private industry (as long as they wisely invest for retirement). I am a federal employee and I still have to make payments to social security, just like everyone else. I am not going to complain that I am paying for your retirement in the same way that you are complaining about paying for mine. You also pay my salary as well, just be happy that it is a lot lower than it could be. Don't try to belittle the job that government employees do, just because they are not fighting overseas. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers, and there is plenty of work to be done at home as well.
