I waited this morning til I could not take it anymore.(1/2 hr.) How long do you like "suffering"?....A sealed proof just sold for 525..unc. still there for same( Just sold}. I have been buying and need to save cash for future issues. Do not think these will go crazy in price right away. Think they will over time do well compared to others.
<< <i>it would be a hell of a note to open them 2 or 3 years from now and find out they mistakenly shipped you 2007 clad proof sets. >>
It is funny you said that because my last order from the mint gat screwed up like that. I ordered Jefferson first day covers and was charged for that but got Idaho covers instead.
If I was half as smart as I am dumb Iwould be a genious
Im glad you mentioned the box because i am very pleased with it. If my set hasen't sold by the morning i probably will take it off the bay and keep it. That is one of the main reasons I didn't want to open it. I didn't want to become attatched..

I didn't think these were supposed to ship 'til 9/24. I want mine!

PCGS is going to First Strike these? Why is that even offered, aren't they all de facto 'First Strikes' anyway? Seems pointless, I mean even more so than usual.
I don't get this game people are playing. You like the coins, so you buy them. All this first strike nonsense will realize zero premiums in the future, or nearly so. Enjoy coins like they are supposed to be enjoyed and don't sweat all of these peripheral issues. "Do I open" apparently is like "do I clean" to some indivduals.

...Well, if you mentioned that your going to sell right away, most would say leave it sealed. But with so many there now it will not make any or much difference anyway.
Mine shipped today (Saturday, Sept 22)! I will need to stop at the air port on my way home from work on Monday. (One of the few time I'm happy to go out of my way.)
Oh, yea, open them they are really cool.

A sort of on topic question: The cut-off for "opened" First Strikes is October 19. Does PCGS need to receive the coin by that cut-off date or does it need to be postmarked by that date?

As a business man, I completely agree. I'd rather specialize in ONE thing like a Neurosurgeon. For me, grading is already above the call of duty on submissions. I just want the PCGS label and the protection of the plastic. The US Mint cardboard box will keep it safe, too, but like someone else pointed out... what if it was not a spouse coin in it ? Ya gotta look.... so look at the thread title and try answering that question
Opening the box eliminates the perception of cherry picking for the purpose of slabbing. Sealed box coins often resell for a premium -- I completely understand the dilemma for a flipper who also truly likes coins...
I plan on opening one set - keeping the other (relative purchased) sealed away.
mcmxi -- Took a while to really address the question through all the chafe, eh?
Try to enjoy them!!

But for that to happen, the Mint will have had to make a mistake, which would mean poor quality control...and...oh! Never Mind!
Then, go buy another

When you feel you have a 70, it will probably come back a 69.
If you plan on grading it but can't send it in the next 30 days then leave it alone.
If you plan on grading it and can send it in quickly then open it.
Enjoy it, the box for these are incredible. Nice highly polished wood box.

Nice Coin ! I really like it - trust me - it's more enjoyable to look at the Coin than the cardboard box.

I agree. Keeping it in the cardboard box = WTF?
