Question about halfs

OK I'm fairly new to this so can anyone please explain to me why some of the commemorative coinage was minted different years such as the Oregon trail memorial (1926, 1928, 1933, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1938 and 1939) , Arkansas centennial etc etc? I always thought that they were to mint the actual commemorative year and not keep on minting and minting. Thanks

This might sound silly, but they were generally minted in more than one year so that they could raise more money through additional sales to collectors or so that the folks distributing the coins could capitalize further on their control of the mintage.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
