1954 S/D Jefferson Question

I just crossed a 54 S/D from ANACS 64 to PCGS 64. I submitted it as coin 4055 as listed in the guide, grade just came in but the coin number is 38517 (FS-501(FS-033))and is listed as a subset of 4055. I look up the populations for that coin number and it says only 1 coin has been graded in all grades. image

Is this a new sub-variety that PCGS is doing or did I just get really lucky and make a rare find?

I did have the coin true-viewed because I have not seen any and thought it would be neat, I will post as soon as the pics come in.

I have no clue about the Jeffersons except they moved on up to the east side and got a piece of the pie. I am sorry your question seems to fall on deaf ears, or if you prefer; blind eyes.

not sure what your getting at here, but I will take a stab..

I think your saying the pop says it is the only 1 64 s/d out there, which is way off, as Ive owned more than 10 examples of that variety over the years in PCGS 64, and know of plenty in 65 and a few 66's.

hope that helps, im sure others will chime in

PCGS has only recently begun attributing coins in the Cherrypicker's Guide and citing the FS number on the holder. I believe they also assigned a new series of coin numbers for those coins that are so involved. My guess is that your pop 1/0 information is for S/D coins that have been graded under the new coin number. It certainly isn't for the old one, as I've owned two MS65s.
    When in doubt, don't.

It is good registry fodder now, you can list it as pop top and 1 of a kind on ebay. LOL

The regular S/D is listed at coin number 4055 (FS-033) and there are plenty in the pop

This coin came back as coin number 38517 (FS-501(FS-033)) and there is only one listed in the pop under that number, just trying to find out a little about this variety or where I should look to find out information about it. See pop report below:
