The Great "What I Put in Circulation" Thread

After finding that 09 VDB AU coin in circulation last week, and seeing a thread about putting some older coins out for potential YN's to find, I hereby start this thread. I remember back in the early/mid 1960 when I would go through roll after roll of Wheat cents. The absolute THRILL of finding a 50 year old coin was incredible. I would hold it and dream about you possible had had it in his/her pocket. The few times that I found a Barber coin or IHC that was 60-70 years old just thrilled me to no end.

In that light, I will pledge to put something back out there for a young person to find. And yes, I realize that if I drop 100 coins in circulation, maybe only 1 will be found by a kid. But maybe that one kid will be thrilled. At our shop, we would get a couple kids a year that would bring in an "old" coin to find out about it. I would spend the time to show them and tell them about their "old" coin. If they showed interest, they got an old Whitman "Penny" holder and a small handful of Wheat cents. A small price to pay to start a new collector on his/her way.

Today, I shopped at Wal-Mart, Staples and the local grocery store in the Fort Worth, TX area. Each store got a Buffalo nickel and a couple or three Wheat cents. This week, I will try to spend 100 Wheat cents and about 25 Buffalo nickels. What about it? Will you step up and do the same?

So, can I count you in? Tell us what you dropped and where.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
