Please Critique my Show Prices

So.., my first show is coming up this weekend. I'll have a six-foot table, with another 4-footer behind it. I'll have all full boxes neatly in rows, and a 2'x3' tabletop showcase for graded packs. I'm going to have 4 separate fliers on the table, with everything priced. Below are what will be on the fliers. Please comment regarding prices and see if I made any errors. Hopefully I can set everything up at home this week and take a few pics for set-up critique. Thanks.

  • I have enjoyed all your post regarding your idea of selling packs at shows. I'm not a big pack buyer so really cant comment on prices but I can say If I was at the show I'm sure I would get something at your table. I like your flier 2 for sure, some fun ripping. Looking forward to hearing how things go.

I would guess that your pricing will attract people who aren't even in the market for packs or ripping. I'm sure you will fill a niche that won't be represented by anyone else at the show. If by chance someone else is selling ~20 plus year old packs, your prices will most likely demolish any other dealer.

    So far thanks guys.

Most of the raw stuff came from BBXchange, so I've got them priced similarly with just a little mark-up. Graded stuff came from watching e-bay auctions and winning at or just below similar closed auctions. I'm hoping I'll do okay on that stuff with a small mark-up.
  • Looks good, if I were to go I would buy a few just for the fun of ripping!!
  • You seem to be missing the 1988 packs.... image It seems to me that you are very fairly priced. I would buy some. Good luck!

  • It is 100% dependent on the customers the show attracts. I went to my first show in well over 10 years in August. The vast majority of the people there spent three hours picking out 15 cards from the five for $1 box

    Tom -

It's a big quarterly show. Similar to the old fort washington types. 125-150 dealers, but NONE sell packs. I've seen $.25 sales, and $2,500 sales. Lot's of set-builders, mostly raw I figure. If I was building a 75 set, I'd buy a nice pack to go along with it. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Bob, I am not sure if you are doing this or not, but put a post it note with the prices per pack on each box. I do not even stop at tables where dealers don't price their product and I might miss a flyer or assume it is a flyer for an upcoming show. Great product selection!

Prices sound very fair. If you still have a few after the show is over, I may be interested in buying a few.

It has been a long time since I have done a show. In fact, I beleive my last show was one of the Fort Washington shows you mentioned. I have been tempted to try a local show again if I could find one in my area.

Hopefully you will be able post some pictures on this thread of your set up. I would very much like to see it.

Anyway, best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

  • I wouldnt post FF error in the 89 racks unless you know for certain its possible in that run. Also if you have any racks with Bill showing I'll pay you alot more than $2 image

Also if there is the FF error in those for $2 a pack thats very reasonable but if not those might sit at that price. But you never know. In my experiences online I used to crack one box and sell the other 2 from the case and I was happy/lucky to get $18 shipped for a box of 24 racks. But then again my user name might scare off people. It would me.

Also add Biggio to the list avail.

    Good Luck and pics !!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks fella's -

Ripken - good point. I guess I just figured all of the Billy Ripken's were errors, but I guess not. I'll change it to just Billy Ripken instead.

I don't have any racks, but I do have a cello with the FF on top. I have no idea how to price that one. Any help?
  • Based on centering I have seen cellos with the FF on top sell for $20-40

    Ripken -

Thanks for the info. I paid $20 for it a few years back. I didn't want to influence you so I didn't mention that earlier. I guess $30 will get it from me at the show.

Regarding pictures. I'm still waiting for my tabletop display case to get delivered, but I set some of the boxes up and took a few last night. There's nothing really to see. Just looks like a countertop at a typical card shop/show. Sorry.
