    About how much is one of them worth? I saw one just like it with the little book looking holder just last week. Only problem was that the dealer wanted more than $500 for it.

    A few years back I saw one sell on eBay for $125, and then it turned up in Long Beach for $250. image

    Why would they commemorate the centennial in 1878, by an act of congress passed in 1874?

    So are you telling me the inscription in the cloth does in fact say 1876? Looks like an 8 to me and nothing like the 6 in 1776.

    Its original. Just the way the cloth took the printing. Reckon quality was less the good at the mint back then also. image
