Are strike-thru on Silver PROOFs desireable?
I received my silver PROOF sets this afternoon. To my horror, I looked at what I thought was a huge scratch on the obverse of my Utah quarter. Then I looked closely and noticed that it makes a tight very smooth loop under Washington's ear and returns down the neck. I am pretty sure it's a strike thru (wire?).
My pics really don't do it justice, but they do show the more obvious part of the abnormallity.

Bring the set to the Santa Clara show and I'll take some close up shots that'll blow your mind for you.

Will do, I'm looking forward to it.
<< <i>Are you sure its a Strike-thru and not a die scratch? >>
Jabba, I'm pretty sure it's not a die scratch, it's not raised, it is very shiney (almost like mercury) in the "mark" that makes a loop (very tight, but a smooth radius) and heads back down the neck (it's very difficult to see that part of it, even with a loupe).
My fear at first was that it was just a scratch from a careless worker (or something similar), but the more I look at it, the less I believe it's a scratch and am more sure it's a strikethru.
