esnipe problem with eBay

I had something shocking happen to me last night. I had about 15 snipes set up with esnipe, which I had been using for years with no problems. They went off but then I got an email from ebay stating
"Your Account was accessed by an unauthorized third party to list items without your authorization. At this time we have taken several steps to secure your ebay account...."
Then the seller got an email stating "This email is to inform you that any recent bids placed by ---- may have been by an unauthorized third party. We are now in the process of restoring the account to its true owner. If this person was the winning bidder for the transaction then the transaction in question should be considered null and void..."
Fortunately, the seller is a friend of mine and he asked what the deal was. I told him the bids were mine and were good but I'm going to have to contact eBay to find out what had happened.
I ended up chatting with eBay Account Security and they were very nice and helpful. It doesn't appear my account was highjacked but I did change the password. Best I could tell, something in the esnipe bids triggered it off. I hadn't done any bidding since May so I wondered what had changed.
Has this happened to anyone?
